This week Primary Three have enjoyed looking at the work of Scottish artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

This inspired us to create our own Mackintosh style prints!

For our first printmaking lesson we learned how to scratch our drawings into polystyrene. We then rolled ink over them and pressed them on to paper, creating our beautiful pictures.

We can’t wait to try out more printing techniques soon!

Friday 16th September

Hello from Primary 2,

This week we have continued our Scotland topic through the Katie Morag theme. The children were fascinated to learn that kilts were worn by Highlanders a long time ago. They also enjoyed exploring links to ICT where they gained knowledge on kilt making. Later on this week we also included expressive arts in our multi-disciplinary topic where the children created their own kilt patterns using the elements of line, shape and colour. We were very proud of our final kilt designs which we displayed on our topic wall.

Friday 9th September 2016

This week as part of our taught writing lesson the children enjoyed reading an extract from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The children enjoyed using their imagination to create a sixth lucky golden ticket winner and were very creative in their response .

We also had school football trials for our shared campus team Bargeddie Saints . Coaches from Albion Rovers came to share their expertise .  I am sure they were very impressed with our talented children.

Hello from Primary 6/7

This week we have started our whole school topic of Scotland. We have started to learn about the history of Scotland, particularly the origins of the Saltire flag. We have also been learning about the geography of Scotland and revised our mapping skills using an online atlas. So far we are enjoying learning about our country.

This week a lot of the children have put their names forward to attend trials for the joint school football team, Bargeddie Saints. This is being carried out by couches from Albion Rovers Football Club and this is a fantastic and enjoyable opportunity for all pupils involved.

We also received a visit from Vikki, our Active Schools Coordinator who came in to discuss the role of Junior Sports Leaders. This is another fantastic opportunity and one in which I am sure both Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils will gain a lot from.

This week Primary Three have enjoyed combining Maths with Outdoor Learning. We have been exploring rounding numbers to the nearest 10, and had fun working with a partner to draw number-lines with chalk. This helped us to complete a range of active maths activities as well as written challenges.

Friday 9th September Primary 2

Hello from Primary 2,

This week the children have been working hard to improve their mental maths agility. They have been investigating how whole numbers are constructed and use their knowledge to explain the link between a digit and its place and value.
