Primary One are working very hard on phonemes and spelling and are having great fun using their magnetic boards with their partners.

The children also produced some lovely handwriting in their Taught Writing lesson based on Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted and are looking forward to showing off their work at Parents’ Evening!

Film Friday for Golden Time

image

For Golden Time this week, pupils chose from one of three films. They could choose from  The BFG, The House of Magic and Pete’s Dragon. The most popular  film chosen by pupils was The House of Magic.

A reminder to parents/ carers and pupils that pupils will participate in a crazy hair day on Friday 14 th October 2016 for the cost of a £1.

Friday, 7th of October 2016

This week in Primary Three art we enjoyed exploring printmaking with some unusual materials – shaving foam and food colouring!!

We had great fun swirling the food colouring around in the shaving foam. This created a beautiful marbling effect on the paper that we pressed into it.

We then decided to choose some of our favourite Charles Rennie Mackinosh designs to draw on top with a black felt tip. We felt this would create a stained glass window look.

Don’t they look wonderful!

Friday 7th October

Hello from Primary Two

This week the children were learning all about landscape art by the Scottish colourist John Duncan Ferguson. He was inspired by French Impressionists such as Monet, and Matisse. The children really enjoyed being introduced to the features of natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers and forests. This was demonstrated by their landscape art which they proudly displayed.

We have a very busy year ahead so they may not look like this come June.

This week we have been looking at portraiture and have been creating portraits of William Wallace. We have been working hard on these and are looking forward to sharing the finished article on the blog this week. We are enjoying our Scotland topic so far and are lucky enough to be going to Summerlea next week on our school trip to visit the Scottish heritage site.

Friday 30th September

Primary 5/6 enjoyed working collaboratively to complete a research task relating to Famous Scottish Trademarks.

We used the Internet to successfully discover –

Where Tunnocks tea cakes are made ?

What Wiseman Dairies supply and distribute ?

We developed our art skills further this week by using printing techniques to produce a Scottish landscape picture .

We had to use our knowledge of  line and patterns  to produce a wonderful print . We were all delighted with the results !
