This week we enjoyed taking part in a workshop about Weaving at Summerlee Heritage Park .

We all enjoyed learning about the process involved in making  woollen thread to be use to make a kilt .

We loved having a go at weaving wool ourselves and we were delighted with the finished products .

We also enjoyed visiting the coal mines , travelling on a tram  and looking at how living conditions have changed over the last century . To finish off a wonderful day we all had great fun playing in the park !

Friday 14th October 2016

Primary One have had a fun filled week! They went on their first school outing to Stepps Library where they had an opportunity to listen to Lari Don telling us all about her book, ‘The Secret of the Kelpie’. The children enjoyed their visit and were very well-behaved on the day.

Primary One thoroughly enjoyed ‘Crazy Hair Day’ and had great fun recreating their hairstyles on  self portraits and playing games.

Another great week!

Well done, Primary One!

This week in Primary Three we have enjoyed further developing our ball skills in P.E.

After spending a few weeks playing bench ball we are excited to be moving on to netball.

We have been practicing different ways of throwing and passing the ball, as well as trying to score goals by shooting into the net.

Today we were lucky to have an extra amazing day at school with not only Crazy Hair Day, but a birthday party for one of our very special classmates. A big thanks to the parents for providing us with lots of treats and party bags!

What a fantastic way to end the first term of P3!!

Learning about The Gruffalo through drama

img_1617

Pupils from P1-3 have been exploring characters from The Gruffalo. We made our masks and learned our lines-it was very fun! We tried to move like the characters and use lots of expression. We hope you enjoy our video clips!

We enjoyed learning about the life and work of the very famous Glasgow born artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh .

We enjoyed learning about his work and how it can still be seen in various places around Glasgow such as the Willow Tearooms and Glasgow Art school .

We decided to have a go ourselves to create a painting in the style of Mackintosh . We are delighted with our progress so far …

Friday 7th October

Hello again from Primary 6/7

This week we have been putting the finishing touches to our William Wallce portraits and here are some of our works of art.

Some fabulous examples of our artwork

We have been learning about key Scottish figures in the Scottish Wars of Independence and a prominent figure was Sir William Wallace and his role as guardian of Scotland.

We looked at portraiture as a medium and used sketching and oil pastels to create our portraits. We are very proud of them and are looking forward to them being displayed in our class and in the school corridor alongside our biographies of William Wallace.

Showing off our work

We will be looking at landscapes next and will be creating some beautiful Scottish landscapes using different art mediums and techniques.
