Oral Hygiene

Recently we had visits from Childsmile and the Oral Hygienist. The children enjoy brushing their teeth every day in nursery.                                                                                  dsc00176 dsc00180

Friday 4th November

Hello from Primary 6/7

This week has been a busy one in St Kevin’s. On Monday we started our block of Hockey where instructors from Uddingston Hockey Club work with our class to help us learn the skills needed to play Hockey. We had a great time and learnt a lot. In time our skills will improve and we can move on to learning the rules of a hockey game.

As it is Guy Fawkes night on Saturday we have been learning all about the gun powder plot back in 1604 and the reason we celebrate Guy Fawkes to this day. We created some bright and colourful firework pictures with a city skyline, these were created using oil pastels and they turned out to be very effective as you can see below.

First we created our city skyline, keeping in mind skylines such as Manhattan.

Then we created our bright firework display

We finally added Windows to our buildings to create an image of the lights on in the buildings.

Here are some of our finished pieces of art.

We have also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in our Golden Time activity this afternoon, Taekwondo!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the firework festivities. Stay safe.

Fun at Golden Time with Tae Kwon Do

All pupils enjoyed learning new skills about Tae Kwon do. Three instructors demonstrated skills to pupils and pupils then carried out skills shown. All involved had a great time. Many thanks to the instructors for giving up their own time.

Friday 4th November 2016

Primary one have had a very busy week at St. Kevin’s.  They had great fun on Monday carrying out Halloween activities and enjoying the class party. The children also enjoyed showing off their disguises and doing spooky dances during the Halloween parade!

Primary One worked very hard to produce a fantastic Acrostic Poem when learning all about the history of Guy Fawkes, bonfires and fireworks. The children are learning to use their writing targets and are making great progress!

They  listened very carefully during a safety talk on the dangers of fires and fireworks and gave excellent responses in terms of how to keep safe.

Well done, Primary One!

Friday, 4th November 2016

This week started off spook-tacularly in Primary 3 with our class Halloween party on Monday! We had a gruesomely good time dancing to creepy music, playing Pass the Cauldron and taking part in the school Halloween Parade. We also had a fang-tastic time creating our own revolting recipes for Witch Stew in Taught Writing.

We were also very lucky this week to receive our Read, Write, Count packs from the Scottish Book Trust. These packs will be extremely useful in helping us further develop our skills in Literacy and Numeracy, whilst having fun.

A big thanks to the Scottish Book Trust from all of us!

Finally, we hope everyone has a fantastic and safe time celebrating Bonfire Night this weekend.

Primary two – 4th November

Hello from Primary two

We have had a great time during our Halloween Event this week.  We have been involved in many funny, spooky Halloween activities which have inspired our imagination. We have concluded the activities with a Halloween Parade where we have put a lot of thought into our Halloween colourful costume designs.

The Halloween context provided opportunities for  us to share experiences and feelings. It also helped us to convey our ideas using new vocabulary particularly in our written work. We have been able to create characters in a Halloween story and describe events and settings.
