Some of Primary 6 came to visit their buddies today. They helped with lots of different activities including reading stories, smart board games and using the play doh. Kristopher showed off his story telling expertise by reading a story to the whole nursery.

Today in nursery Talking Heads Puppets came to visit us. There were lots of characters including Lulu and Ben who are very funny dogs. Lulu kept licking everyone’s faces and Ben hit the puppeteer with a toy hammer! In the afternoon our friends from Primary One came to see the show too.

Friday 18th November

This week has been a very busy and exciting week for Primary 5/6 .

We all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Cinema fest at Showcase cinema on Wednesday

morning . The film was called ‘Zarafa’ and it was a tale about a little giraffe . The adventure story

begins in Africa and then moves to tell about the giraffe’s life in France .  It was such a treat !

Over the last fortnight we have been recording the changes in the Scottish weather patterns .

We worked hard during active maths to use our data recorded to create interesting bar graphs  . image image image image

This week we also had a birthday girl who kindly brought lovely doughnut treats for everyone to

enjoy !

Friday 18th November

Hello from Primary 6/7

We had a great start to the week, on Tuesday the Primary 7 children attended the cinema to see ‘X Men’ and Primary 6 went on Wednesday to see a French film, ‘Zarafa’. Both films were thoroughly enjoyed by the children, this may be partly due to all the treats they got to bring to enjoy during the film!

We have been looking at the genre of report writing as well as Scottish politics. We incorporated these within our taught writing lesson and created a report on Nicola Sturgeon, our First Minister. Some of the children created very detailed and interesting reports which highlighted her early years and her role in politics. This is important as we have a MSP visiting us at the start of December to talk about his role as well as Scottish Parliament where we will learn more about the role of Holyrood.

As part of our Scotland topic, we have been learning about Scottish saints such as St Margaret and St David. Their lives were very interesting and these were indeed two saints to look up to for the good and selfless things they did in their lives. Definitely figures to look up to!

We are all looking forward to our long weekend, as we won’t be in on Monday (well the teachers will!) Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Friday, 18th November 2016

This week in Primary Three Art we decided to use some of the new skills we learned during last week’s trip to Kelvingrove. We looked again at some of the landscapes by The Scottish Colourists and felt inspired to create our own! We learned how to draw with charcoal, and how to blend it with chalk to create different shades of grey. We developed skills in looking for shadows and highlights to give our pictures depth, and had a great time getting messy!

Today we were very lucky to go to the cinema to take part in a Frozen Sing-a-long! We really enjoyed the experience and sang our hearts out!

There was also another celebration today for the birthday of one of our lovely classmates, and we got to have cake again! We are very thankful to her parents for providing it for us to enjoy. We hope she has a great time celebrating this weekend.

image image image image image image image imagePrimary One have made great leaps in their learning and are now starting to blend sounds and read independently! With the help of super homework, their letter formation is improving and the children are producing very neat handwriting!

They thoroughly enjoyed Purposeful Play and were able to act out ‘Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted ‘ through construction, sand jigsaws, cosy corner, role play and writing table activities. The children had great fun dressing up in our new role play outfits and naming 3D shapes when constructing a pier for Katie Morag!

Primary One had a ball at their Movie/Hot Chocolate event and enjoyed a bit of relaxation after all their hard work!

Fantastic, Primary One!
