We had a visit from one of our colleagues from A.B.C music. The children had the opportunity to learn about different musical instruments and how they are played. They took part in different activities involving listening and counting to the beat, as well as singing and  rhyming.

Friday 3rd February 2017

image image image image image imagePrimary One have had a very busy week learning all about subtraction and the children thoroughly enjoyed using our new giant abacus to help them take away.

They had great fun showing off their ball skills at tennis and have made great improvements in hand to eye movements since the start of the school year.

The children really enjoyed studying the Chinese New Year and used their hands to paint a tail on our giant rooster! Primary One celebrated the Year of the Rooster by tasting noodles and prawn crackers and advised that they were really yummy!

A fantastic week, well done!!

Friday 3rd February

Hello from Primary two

This week Primary two have been involved in an exciting Scottish Government programme called Active Play.  Active play supports children’s capacity for positive development through a broad range of environments and play opportunities.  This week the children really enjoyed participating in a variety of physical activities and their ability to run, jump, throw and catch was enhanced when engaging in their Circuit Course and running games.

Yesterday we had a great day at Drumpellier  country park. The children had lots of fun exploring in the woods looking for bears, bats and The Gruffalo.  They were learning how to climb trees and took part in scavenger hunts. The children used their own skills to make dens and even tried to make a swing.

I would like to thank all the parent helpers who came along to help, it is really appreciated.

Friday 27th January

Hello from Primary 6/7,

This week we have been learning about financial education, we have been learning about debit cards, credit cards, profit/loss, discounts, savings, bank accounts and interest. Next week we will learn about finance plans and foreign currency. We are all enjoying this topic and how interactive it is, but we cannot believe all of our parents have to deal with this, being an adult is hard work…

We completed a homework project to complete a presentation on our Christmas holidays. The children that presented these during our talking and listening exercise did very well and shared their well prepared projects with their peers.

As it was Robert Burns night this week, we have been learning about his life and work. We have been creating portraits by sketching and using the technique of pointillism to do this.

Friday, 27th January 2017

This week in Primary Three Science, our budding Biologists were fascinated to learn all about the major organs inside the human body. We explored what each organ does, and discussed the ways in which we can help to look after them.

As we know that exercise and healthy living are a key part of looking after our bodies, we linked our Science to Taught Writing, where we all created instructions for our own exercise routines.

Next week we look forward to moving on to learning all about Inheritance.

Today we enjoyed exploring an important event happening all over the world – Chinese New Year. We listened to the traditional story of how the Chinese Zodiac came to be, and learned that this year is the year of the Rooster. We also watched videos of different Chinese customs and traditions that happen during the festival, and felt inspired to create our own dragon masks and traditional fans.

We painted our fans red and gold as we learned that those colours symbolise luck, as does the dragon.

Happy New Year!

新年快乐
