This week Primary two have been learning about recognising symmetry in their environment. They have been exploring what a line of symmetry is and identifying lines of symmetry in pictures and patterns.

This week we all thoroughly enjoyed working with the cast from Hopscotch Theatre Company.
We worked together to further develop our understanding of ‘ Growth Mindset ‘ through drama.
The workshop was very interactive and fun to take part in . We learned that when we experience difficult situations we should always try to think positively .

Primary One made symmetrical crowns as part of their numeracy and interdisciplinary learning. The children were very careful when colouring and took their time to make sure the crowns were symmetrical. Primary One had great fun using mirrors to check for symmetry during this task!
Super Symmetry, Primary One!

After our long weekend, Primary Three came back to school yesterday ready to hear all about what we will be doing for our new science topic: Plants and Animals.
We heard that for the plant part of the topic we will be looking at different types plants, their life cycle and how they grow, and we were also excited to hear that we will doing some experiments around this.
We learned that for the animal section we will be exploring inheritance further, as well as food chains, and the habitats of different living things.
We really can’t wait to begin our investigations properly next week!

The boys and girls in Primary 4/5 have been making and designing shapes from 3D nets. They worked very well independently and then took more challenging 3D shapes and worked well in a partnership.

Primary 4/5 have enjoyed their pyjama day. They contributed £1 each which will be donated to our Lenten charity ‘Mary’s Meals’.
The pupils have also completed a personal individual talk about a particular interest they have. They spoke very confidently, clearly and with good pace. The majority also attracted their audiences attention with photos, trophies or probs. well done boys and girls!

Hello from Primary 6/7,
On Wednesday we were luckily enough to be visited by the SSPCA. They gave us a talk on the importance of protecting and looking after animals. We learned a lot and impressed with our knowledge of domestic animals and wildlife.
We also completed our Robert Burns portraits. Here is a display of some of the completed work.
Remember it’s a long weekend this weekend so children should return on Thursday, it’s only teachers that sadly have to come in on Wednesday ☹️. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

This week Primary 5/6 began learning about Decimals . We enjoyed using ICT to reinforce our understanding of place value and can now successfully discuss tenths and hundredths .
As part of our daily mental maths in class we have started looking at Number Talks . This week we were focusing on addition strategies . We were learning about different ways we can successfully add three digit numbers in our heads . What a clever bunch of mathematicians !
We also enjoyed working with Holly on Wednesday afternoon while learning about working cooperatively using lego. It was great fun although everyone had to remember their own roles . We were very proud of our completed models.
Pyjamas day was the perfect way to end a very busy week
Hopefully we all enjoy a lovely relaxed and enjoyable holiday weekend. Remember children return to school on Thursday next week.
