Friday 17th November

Primary One have a very proud teacher this week! The children were absolutely fantastic when they went to see ‘Sing’ at the Showcase Cinema. They were excellent representatives of St. Kevin’s and displayed super listening skills throughout. A big thank you to parent helpers for coming along and supporting our class.

Well done again, Primary One!

Halloween

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We had a very action-packed Halloween full of activities, games, dancing and music. We learned about the Mexican holiday ‘Day of the Dead’ and created skull masks. We also learned about the history of Halloween. We all had a great day and the children looked great in their costumes!

Eco News

Mrs Doran and Miss McFadyen would like to present our new Eco Committee for 2017/2018…

Our new learning targets for this year are:

  • Litter
  • Water
  • Biodiversity.

The Eco Committee will meet every Wednesday at lunchtime to discuss our targets and plan of action.

Over the next 2 weeks we will be taking part in the Switch Off Fortnight Campaign. This will involve each class making a pledge to save energy in their classroom. Our Eco Committee will then conduct a secret inspection to see if the classes have managed to stick to their promise.

We will update you on our results next week!

Coin Combinations in P4/5

This week our P4/5 mathematicians began their new Numeracy topic of Money. It was perfect timing after the workshop we received last week from Lesley at Santander!

We began our week by revising what we already know about Money, before moving on to making amounts. We challenged ourselves to use the fewest coins possible to create different totals.

We had great fun working with partners and using coins and purses. We are looking forward to moving on to using £5, £10 and £20 notes next week.

Primary two – 10th November 2017

Hello from Primary two

This week the children visited Coatbridge Library and listened to the story of Beauty and the Beast by French author Gabrielle Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve which made links to their French topic. After the storytelling the children took part in linked activities.

Friday 10th November

Primary One are working well on their sounds, spelling, reading and numbers. They are also working hard to learn carols for the Christmas Concert.

The children thoroughly enjoyed a visit to Coatbridge Library as part of their French IDL. Primary One listened very carefully to a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and had great fun designing characters.

Lots of great work this week, Primary One!

Managing Money in Primary 4

Today all of the Primary 4s met to take part in a money workshop with Lesley from the bank of Santander.

They discussed the difference between things you need to buy, and things you want to buy. They also took part in an activity where they were allowed to buy items for their bedroom without a budget, and then with a budget. They had great fun using their calculators and problem solving skills!

At the end of the workshop Lesley gave everyone a pencil case full of goodies for taking part so enthusiastically!

Well Done Primary 4!

Friday 3rd November

Hello from Primary One,

Primary One have enjoyed a fun filled week of activities! They had great fun coming to school in their Halloween costumes and joining the parade before enjoying some spooky goodies in class.

The children demonstrated super listening skills when making ghastly ghosts and were very brave during the Gruffalo interactive story when handling a variety of animals.

They thoroughly enjoyed working with Miss Love and Miss Hannah who joined the class for work experience from St. Andrew’s High School.

A very exciting week. Well done yet again, Primary One!
