P4/5 Heavy Metal Heroes

On Monday P4/5 were lucky enough to visit Summerlee Heritage Park to take part in their brand new Heavy Metal Heroes workshop!

We learned about different types of metal and iron, how they are made and what they are used for. We also learned a bit about friction and had fun experimenting with different materials.

We then walked around the museum and had great fun in the park!

Thanks to Mrs Kusztelak and Mrs Cumming for coming with us.

Eco News: World Oceans Day

At school our Eco Committee have been raising awareness of the plastic pollution problem currently facing our oceans.

As Friday the 8th of June was World Oceans Day we learned more about the impact all this plastic is having on our sea creatures.

As a school we are trying to reduce our plastic consumption and always recycle when possible.

By 2050 there could be more plastic waste in the sea than fish, and we will be continuing to explore what more we can do to help stop this from happening.

Take a look at our school mural explaining the issue:

Romans Workshop in P4/5

Our P4/5 historians took a short break from their Vikings topic to learn about the Romans!

We were very lucky to receive an in class workshop from Gillian at Summerlee, who told us lots of interesting things about life in Roman Times. She brought some artifacts with her that we were allowed to investigate and try on!

We had a great time guessing the purpose of each object and are now really excited for our class trip to Summerlee on the 18th of June!

Eco Update: Planting Flowers and Seeds

After all the preparations of weeding and tidying, P3/4 and P4/5 planted some bright new flowers and seeds in our school garden.

We choose ones that will attract bees and butterflies, so as to help keep these insects thriving in our area.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and we will keep you posted on our progress.

P4/5 Presentations

P4/5 worked very hard to create a powerpoint and solo talk about a famous viking or viking god.

They all demonstrated good listening and talking skills, as well as excellent ICT skills!

We were all very impressed with each others research and hard work.

Great job everyone!

Divided City – Sectarianism

Today we took part in a workshop based around our topic, ‘Divided City’ at St Mungo’s museum. We learned about sectarianism and how it is being tackled and why this is important. We worked in active groups to do this. After our workshop we visited Glasgow Cathedral where we saw the tomb of St Mungo.
