Hello from Primary 6/7
This week we started a new topic in maths, measure. We have been learning how to convert simple units of measure and we are getting much more confident with it.
Within language we have been carrying out a non-fiction block where we have been using non-fiction books to carry out the different comprehension strategies and create pieces of non-fiction texts of our own. We have linked this to our topic and have been using books about Planet Earth to do this. We have so far learned about volcanoes and natural disasters, animal habitats, tectonic plates, food webs and evolution. We have enjoyed using different forms of media including books, Internet and videos to give us this information.
We have been entered into an art competition. This competition asks us to design a poster for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which is the largest arts festival in the world. This is a celebration of all of the arts and our posters have to envisage this. We have enjoyed using the design brief to come up with our own ideas and here are some of the works in progress from our talented artists.
Throughout this school year we have been carrying out work in the hopes of being awarded our Pope Francis Faith Award. For our Primary 7s this journey is coming towards the end and all work will be submitted to the diocese at the end of May. The children have been working hard and many have been playing a part within their church community in order to receive their parish commendation.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend
