This week our Primary Three artists took part in their last lesson about The Scottish Colourists.

The focus this week was on Portraiture, and we enjoyed exploring and discussing the features of portraits made by each artist. We then decided to create our own using paint, of the person who sits across from us. We had a great time mixing the paint to create different colours and enjoyed experimenting with thick and thin brush strokes, just like The Scottish Colourists did.
We were particularly inspired by J.D. Fergusson, and decided to copy his style of colourful patterned backgrounds.

We finished off our week today by taking part in a local Christmas Card Competition. We decided that we wanted our cards to reach out to everyone who lives in the area, and so we looked up how to say Merry Christmas in 15 languages!

We are definitely beginning to feel very festive and can’t wait to see what other Christmas activities are in store for us!
