Hello from Primary 6/7
This week we have set up and began to collect food and toiletries for our community food bank. As it is the season of Advent which is a time for giving and charity, the children who are working towards their Pope Francis Faith Award have set up this food bank. Each day the children will go around the classes collecting any kind donations. All donations big and small are welcomed, we understand it is an expensive time of year but as they say, every little helps! Many thanks to the parents who have already contributed!
The food and other items we are looking for are jarred and tinned foods, adult toiletries, baby items, long life milk etc.
This week we have began to look at Scots poets. We have started to learn about the poet, Charles Murray who wrote the famous poem, ‘The Whistle’ in scots language.
We worked with a partner to read he poem and pick out the words or phrases we weren’t sure of, we then used a Scots language dictionary to find out the meanings of these words and translate the poem.
We have been going full steam ahead, preparing for our school show as we know dress rehearsal is looming. The children have been working very hard and it’s looking great, I’m sure all you parents will agree when you see it for yourselves!
