An Update From Primary 7

Hello again from Primary 7! We cannot believe that Term 1 is over already.

So far we have had an excellent first term full of learning, fun and lots of hard work, and we are excited to share with you what we have been learning.

During maths, we have been learning all about place value and applying our rounding skills and knowledge in a range of different activities and stations. We have also been improving our mental agility by discussing and learning new mental strategies during Number Talks. We have been learning about symmetry and using the outdoors and a variety of equipment to work cooperatively to create our own symmetrical pictures.

Primary 7 have had lots of wonderful opportunities this term such as the ‘Try Everything’ day where we had lots of fun. We were able to explore our individual skills, talents and abilities by taking part in a range of activities. We have also enjoyed a Judo taster session where the pupils had lots of fun trying out different Judo techniques.

We are also enjoying the responsibility and leadership in Primary 7 by training to be Sports Leaders. This involves working with our Active Schools coordinator to plan games and activities in small groups which the pupils will then deliver to our younger children during lunchtimes.

We are continuing to learn about, and apply, a growth mindset to help us be more successful. Primary 7 have learned about success being an iceberg, and enjoyed creating our own icebergs using different painting techniques.

We can’t wait to share our learning with you on the school Twitter feed and in our next blog post!

An Update from P2/1

This Term Primary 2/1 have been very busy learning all about Dinosaurs.  We have learned how to use various sources of information, including books and the internet, to research and find out new and interesting facts about different Dinosaurs.  We have learned the names of various dinosaurs, what they ate and where and how they lived.  Through play, we have been able to transfer our knowledge and skills into various tasks, activities and games.  We can use our literacy and numeracy skills throughout our environment whilst learning across the curriculum.

Primary 7/6

Term 1 has been a busy one for Primary 7/6. We have covered two novels, completed a variety of maths topics and learned lots about our I.D.L theme ‘Diversity’. We have researched Martin Luther King, Malala and the Suffragettes and created beautiful artwork related to this. We especially enjoyed using a variety of media to create our ‘Diversity’ pictures. We also wrote great information reports on ‘Lourdes’ and we loved learning about St Bernadette and Our Lady.

Primary 7/6 also led First Friday Mass this month and all of the children did so well. I was so proud of their mature and confident attitude.
