An Update from Primary 5B

A big hello from Primary 5B – and Miss Burns too!

After spending a little time catching up and getting reacquainted after the summer holidays, the boys and girlsĀ have settled in for what is sure to be an excellent year, full of learning and fun!

Although we have only been back at school for a short time, we have been very busy indeed! This term, we are learning more about the Rights of the Child – the things that we as children need and are entitled to so that we can life a safe, healthy and happy life. Using what we had learned so far, we helped to launch our school’s Rights Respecting Journey by planning, preparing for and presenting at St Brendan’s very own ‘Day for Play’. We used this special day to introduce the other children to rights by focusing on Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child:

Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities.

Click below to take a peek at just some of what we got up to on that great day!

We have now turned our focus to the lives of children in the past – particularly in New Lanark. Miss Burns will be helping us to learn more about how children’s lives have improved as their rights have become more respected over the course of the past century. Remember to check out our Twitter newsfeed for the latest updates!

Until next time!
