P6a Daily Plan Friday 27.03.20

Good morning everyone! Here is your plan for today. As always, anything you’re stuck with, send me a message and I will talk you through it. Don’t worry about fully finishing everything, do your best in the time that you have. You are all doing so well 🙂

LITERACY

1. Punctuation Focus. In the Literacy section in Glow, there is a file called ‘Punctuation Focus 27.03.20’. Try to add all the punctuation in and send me your answers.

2. Reading

Diamonds and Emeralds – You are going to read ‘Stig of the Dump’ again. There are comprehension questions called ‘Stig of the Dump comprehension questions’ in the same folder (Diamonds and Emeralds folder in Literacy section). Answer these in full sentences, using HOT answers. The number of marks at the side of the question is a hint to tell you how long your answer should be!

Rubies and Sapphires – You are going to read ‘Ivan the Terrible’ again. It is in the Rubies and Sapphires folder in the Literacy section. There are comprehension questions called ‘Ivan the Terrible comprehension questions’. Answer these in full sentences.

Break

MATHS

3. Tables Practise – Practise your 9 and 12 times table to yourself. Write them down and underline the ones you find tricky to remember.

4. Maths Exercise

Group 1 – Remember when you divide decimals you move the digits to the right. You are going to complete the task called ‘Dividing by 10 and 100 27.03.20’ in Group 1’s folder in the Numeracy section. I will talk you through how many places to move the digits to the right if you get stuck! Just send me a message on Dojo.

Group 2 – We are working on subtraction and with bigger numbers. You are going to complete ‘Subtraction page 2 27.03.20’ in Group 2’s folder in the Numeracy section. If you get stuck just send me a message and I will help you!

5. Play Sumdog only if you get everything finished! The challenge ends today. Remember don’t worry if you don’t finish everything, just try your best 🙂

Lunch

CHALLENGE

6. Primary 6a, I am setting you a challenge! You have been given the task of designing a sword for William Wallace! You can use any materials you have at home. I have posted a Design brief in the Topic section of Glow.

Today you are just at the planning stage. Follow the instructions on the design brief. You will get a chance to gather materials and make your sword next week. Remember, use materials that you already have at home, that you are allowed to use and that no one in your house will need. These are the rules! I cant wait to see your designs.

  • Here is an example below to show you some of the materials you can use – yours will be much better!

Knight's Sword

7. Fun Friday – Do something fun! Play a game with someone at home, or draw, play Just Dance on Youtube, do whatever you like 🙂

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t wait to see your work today. Especially the plans you create this afternoon! Remember to send me them on Dojo and send a message on Dojo or Glow of you need anything.

Mrs Maclean’s Daily Challenge

Good afternoon everybody, I hope you are all enjoying your home learning today. If you have finished your learning tasks for the morning, why not have a go at completing the daily challenge for today? Details are in the pictures below.

I have also uploaded these documents (and many other exciting tasks) into today’s folder in the Well-being space on Glow. This can be found right underneath the class tiles. Previous folders are also kept here so you can always try out any tasks you have missed earlier in the week.

Feel free to share any photos on your class Glow page, I’ve loved looking at all the fab work you have been completing for your teachers!

Stay safe everyone!

P5 Daily Plan for Thursday 26th March

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well and are staying safe at home! I have been looking at all of your wonderful work over the last few days and I can see how busy you have been, well done and keep up the great effort! For today’s tasks I have made a new folder on glow and called it Thursday 26th March so you will find all of the resources you need for today in there.

Morning Activities

1. 9.00 – P.E. with Joe

This is a great way to start your day, I have been joining in each morning too so that I am awake and ready to get on with the rest of my tasks.

2. Handwriting/Music

It’s Thursday and we should have Kodaly today so let’s have a music themed task. Look up the words to one of your favourite songs online. Once you have checked the lyrics are correct (you will have to sing them just to be sure) copy them out in your neatest joined handwriting. If you have chosen a particularly long song you could pick a section of it to write out. Don’t forget capital letters, full stops and any other punctuation you should be using. Let me know which songs you have chosen, can we please avoid the banana song? 🙂

Break Time

Have a healthy snack and remember to drink plenty of water, it’s good for you!

3. Writing

A Thursday is also taught writing day. For this week’s task I would like you to write a set of instructions. You have been at home all week, can you think of something you have been doing in your house that you could write a detailed set of instructions for? I know I’ve been doing an awful lot of hand washing! I also cleaned out my hamster’s cage last night so I could write instructions for that. Other ideas could be how to play a specific game or how to make a tasty lunch. There is an example in the folder on glow to get you started.

Remember, instructions should have

  • a title
  • an aim
  • a set of materials, equipment or ingredients depending on what you are writing about
  • a method which should be organised as a numbered list
  • starter words such as first, next, then, after that, finally
  • a picture linked to the instructions

 4. News Time

My favourite part of our day in class! Please tell us some news, Mrs Wilson and I are missing your funny stories and news from home! I will start us off after break time and I want you all to join in and tell us something you have done at home or if it was someone’s birthday tell us how you celebrated. You might just tell us how you and your family are getting on.

Lunchtime

 5. Maths

Mental – There are questions inside today’s folder on glow, I will post the answers later on today.

Sumdog – There is a new money challenge for you to try today, good luck!

6. Art

Thursday is also art day! Go onto the art hub for kids website through you tube. Here is the link incase you need it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMa5gsmZwHs Today we are using the how to draw an Easter bunny folding surprise video. Happy drawing everyone. Enjoy the luxury of being able to press the pause button whenever you like today instead of having to rely on me to remember!

P4 Daily Plan

Good morning P4,

I hope you are all doing well. It has been so lovely seeing all of your wonderful work on GLOW and dojo. I’m very proud of you all. Keep up the amazing effort!

I have posted today’s daily tasks on both GLOW and dojo. Today I thought we would try something different. I have created a grid full of different activities for you to complete. They are colour coordinated in order of how important they are. Try and tick off as many as you can – It’s a bit like playing bingo! Let me know how you get on and if you like this new format. To access your daily grid – log on to Dojo or GLOW.

As always, Keep posting on GLOW to let me know how your day is going. I will be available all day to help or answers any questions you might have – That’s what I’m here for.

Happy home learning!
