Primary 5 4th May 2020

Good morning everyone!

Hope you all had a good weekend and are keeping safe and well.

I have uploaded this week’s plans to Class Story on Dojo and also on our class page on Glow. If you have any questions, if there’s anything you’re unsure of, please ask. As always, you can either follow the suggested timetable of daily activities or you can pick and choose the ones that suit you and your family best.

This week we will be trying out the Oak National website for our maths activities on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is no login, just follow the link (or copy and paste the link) from the daily plan. Let me know what you think of it.
Our Iron Age topic work this week is research into Iron Age life – clothing, houses, food and any other areas of interest. Go online to research Iron Age. There are also useful documents in the topic folder on Glow and on Dojo Class story. Make headings for each area you are researching and then write your facts underneath. Miss Connor will then be doing a writing activity on Thursday where you will need to use the information you have gathered.

Please share any photos of work you have done this week and again I would love to see photos of anything you have

done that you are proud of this week: pieces of work, activities you’ve done with your family.

4.5.20 – Primary 1 Daily Grid

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend and managed to get some fresh air! You can send me a message today and tell me what you have been doing this weekend. Also, you can send me the work you have been doing from the daily grid. You can post it on dojo or on Glow. The grid will be for Monday and Tuesday, so you can spread out the tasks over two days. Remember the other websites you can use are listed at the bottom of the grid and also on Glow.

P6b Daily Plan – Monday 04.05.20

Good morning everyone! I hope you have all had a lovely weekend! 😀
Here is today’s suggested plan.

9.00 – 10.35: LITERACY
09:10-09:30 Spelling

Diamonds – Find your words for today on your spelling grid. Write them 3 times and then choose 3 to write a sentence for.
Emeralds – Find your words for today and write them in alphabetical order.

09:30- 10:35: Reading/IDL (ALL)
– Open the ‘Tim Peake Reading comprehension activity’ in the Literacy section of Glow. All groups will work from this file today. You will find three separate tasks in this file. You don’t have to complete them all. You should only complete the pages relevant to your group:

– Gryffindor start the task on page 10. Read the passage and the questions that follow.

– Ravenclaw start the task on page 4. Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.

– Slytherin and Hufflepuff start the task on page 1. Read the passage and answer the questions on page 2.

Only answer the questions for your group and remember if you need a hand with this send me a message on dojo and I will be more than happy to help. Also, the pages in the file are not numbered so Gryffindor group for example, you will just count on ten pages and this is the passage you should complete. 🙂

10:50-12:30: NUMERACY
Mental Maths (ALL)

– Open the folder called ‘Mental Maths’ within the Numeracy section of our Glow page. Complete Monday of ‘04.05.20 Mental maths’.
– Practise the 8 and 9 times table.

A week of learning in Pr7

What a busy week in pr7.

We have  been learning all about D-Day for our topic. At the start of the week children were reading all about it, then children had to imagine what it would have been like to be there and to write about it.  By the end of the week children were asked to make up a comic strip about D-Day.

This week for maths  we have been exploring negative and positive numbers. We are also brushing up on our mental maths skills.

I

For art we had a go at drawing a realistic bee.

It has been so nice to receive all your pictures. Here’s to another great week of learning next week!

Primary 3 Fun Friday Update

Primary 3 have been busy learning from home this week!

This week we have been focusing on 3-digit addition in Primary 3. We have been using activity sheets and Sumdog to practise our skills. We have also been working hard on our times tables each day this week.

We have been reading lots of books online this week. Some children chose our Fun Friday task which included building our own cosy corner to read out favourite book. We have also been practising new phonemes and common words and we have been practising our punctuation skills.

Primary 3 have loved their topic so far this term. We have been learning about Planet Earth. This week, we focused on recycling and how we can help our planet. We did research, made posters, read books and watched lots of interesting videos about recycling. We also thought about things that we could recycle or reuse in our houses!

Health and Wellbeing has been so important at minute. Primary 3 have been trying to exercise everyday. Dancing, Joe Wicks workouts, football and garden fun have been the favourites this week.

P5 Daily Plan – Friday 1st May

Good morning everyone, I hope you are looking forward to another busy Friday!

Handwriting

  • Open the Literacy folder on Glow and click on Handwriting.
  • Click on the ‘No Place Like Home’ Poem.
  • Copy the poem in your neatest writing.
  • Remember you should be writing in a joined style and take care with letter formation.

Comprehension

  • Open the Literacy folder on Glow and click on Comprehension.
  • Open the document called Steven Brown Comprehension,
  • Read the passage about Steven Brown, the Scottish artist we looked at yesterday.
  • Answer the questions in full sentences.

Spelling

  • Open your group spelling folder on Glow.
  • Choose one of the activities you haven’t done yet to practice your words.
  • Ask someone to give you a spelling test, they could give you some dictated sentences to write underneath like we do in class!

Maths

Espresso – 3D Shape Nets

  • Login to Espresso, click Second Level, then Upper 3D Shape.
  • Watch the video called Building 3D Shapes.
  • In Activities try the Naming Nets activity and the Net or Not activity.
  • Click on Printable Resources and you will see lots of different nets of shapes. Your task today is to build some nets of 3D shapes.
  • If you are able to print you can choose some to print out. If not you will need to draw the net first using a ruler and then make it into a 3D shape.
  • The nets are also in the Shape folder on Glow for you.

Mental Maths – Friday’s questions are in the folder on Glow.

Sumdog – Try today’s times tables challenge.

ICT

Open a drawing game on your computer. You might already have Splosh or Paint installed. There is also a free one called Kidmons at the address: https://kidmons.com/game/paint-online/

Once you have found a suitable drawing tool your task is to choose an animal and draw it in the style of Steven Brown. You did a Highland Cow yesterday so today choose another animal and use the same colour techniques to create a similar picture.

P.E.

Make sure you get some exercise today. Some ideas are:

  • E. with Joe
  • Try a celebrity class on YouTube
  • Practice a sport in your garden
  • Make your own obstacle course for your family to try
  • Cosmis Kids Yoga
  • Jump Start Johnny

Fun Friday

Once you have finished all of your tasks choose something fun to do as a Fun Friday task. You might play an interactive game, do some more exercise or complete a craft activity. Have fun!
