Primary 1 update 7.5.20

Here is some of our work from this week. We have been learning about the phoneme ‘ai” and have been practicing the common words we know. Also, we have been counting in 2’s, adding and subtracting within 20 and revising our counting skills.

On Wednesday we learned a little more about Spain and our RE this week has been all about Mary and praying the Angelus and the hail Mary.

A busy week for most.

7.5.20 – Primary 1 Daily Grid

Hello Primary 1. Here is the grid for today and for Tuesday 12th. We are on holiday on Friday 8th and you are on holiday on Monday 11th, so this grid will still last 2 days, Thursday and Tuesday.

Do half of the tasks today and half of the tasks on Tuesday. Make sure you get all of the activities done over the two days.

Make sure you let me see your work in some way or another. This means taking a photo of your work and loading it onto Glow or Dojo. It is important that I can see what work everyone is actually doing.

Stay safe, I am missing each and every one of you.

P5 Daily Plan Thursday 7th May

Good morning everyone here is today’s plan. You will find all of the resources you need on Glow and on the class story on Dojo.

Writing

Using your topic research from this week your task is to write a diary entry from the Iron Age.

  • A diary is a personal piece of writing and often begins with Dear Diary.
  • Start writing about your morning routine and describe your day in order as it would happen, this is where your research comes in. Someone living in the Iron Age would have a very different day from the one you are having today.
  • Think about what you are wearing, what your home might be like and what activities you might be doing.
  • Remember to use paragraphs to separate your writing. You might split your diary into three sections – morning, afternoon and evening. If you are adding lots of detail you could write as many paragraphs as you like!
  • It might help to look for examples of diary entries on the internet to give you some ideas.

Spelling

Open your group spelling folder on Glow. Choose one of the activities to practice your words for this week.

Maths

Espresso – Symmetry

  • Login to Espresso, click Second Level and then click on Symmetry Lower, it is near the bottom of the page.
  • Watch the videos about symmetry. Try following the folding shapes video by making the shapes yourself and finding the lines of symmetry.
  • Try all of the interactive activities.
  • In the printable resources there are four tasks to try. There are copies in the shape folder on glow and on dojo incase you can’t open them. You can either print them out or try drawing them on paper yourself. It will be difficult to draw some of the tasks if you don’t have squared paper but the capital letters task will be more straightforward. Just do what you can!

Mental Maths – Thursday’s questions are in the folder on Glow.

Sumdog – Choose an activity to practice your maths skills on Sumdog. The house will be open for you throughout the day.

Art

  • This week we are looking at another Scottish Artist – Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
  • In the art folder on glow open the Charles Rennie Mackintosh rose powerpoint.
  • This is a step by step guide on how to create his famous rose design.
  • I have also given you a step by step drawing sheet incase you have trouble opening the powerpoint.
  • Once you are finished there is a stained glass window activity sheet which you can use to create another design in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Extension Task

  • Using the factsheet about Charles Rennie Mackintosh you could make a powerpoint about him. You could search for other examples of his work through Google images and include some of them in your slides.

P.E.

Make sure you get some exercise today. You could do P.E. with Joe, Cosmic Kids yoga or get outside into your garden and have some fun!

Have a great Thursday. Remember tomorrow is a school holiday and Monday is an In-Service day so Mrs Wilson will see you back on Glow on Tuesday. Have a lovely long weekend and I hope the sun shines for you!

Miss Connor

P6b Daily Plan – Thursday 07.05.20

Good morning P6!
Here is the suggested plan for today.🙂

9.00 – 10.35: LITERACY
09:10-09:30 Spelling (ALL)

– Write your words 3 times and write a sentence using your spelling words and other ambitious words.

09:30- 10:35: Writing (ALL)
– Today for our writing we are going to write a set of instructions. Remember yesterday I asked you to make something easy to eat for yourself or someone in your household? Well today we are going to write detailed instructions on how to make this step by step. Make sure that you think about the steps that you went through one by one and remember what ingredients you used. First of all, make two lists. One list of ingredients and one list of utensils. Leave a few lines in case you forget any items. You can add these in later on if you leave some space. Next, you can begin your instructions. Try to make them as detailed and as specific as you can. I have put up an example template in our Literacy section of Glow in the ‘Writing’ folder to help you.

Remember, instructions should have:

– A title.
– An aim.
– A set of materials, equipment or ingredients depending on what you are writing about.
– A method which should be organised as a numbered list.
– Starter words such as first, next, then, after that, finally.
– A picture linked to the instructions.

Remember to include your core targets!

10:50-12:30: NUMERACY
Mental Maths

-Open the folder called ‘Mental Maths’ within the Numeracy section of our Glow page. Complete ‘Thursday’ of the second page for this week of the file called ‘04.05.20 Mental Maths 2’.
-Then practise the 11 and 12 times table.

ALL: Sumdog
-Once you finish your tasks, play Sumdog. I have set a challenge for each group. The house is also open too 😀 Let’s see who can get all their coins!

1.15 – 3.00:

P.E.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ
Click on the link above and work out with Joe.
OR
Go a nice walk with someone from your household.

R.E. (ALL)
– The Rosary is very important to Catholics for many reasons, including our devotion to Mary. As May is the month of Our Lady this will be the focus of much of the R.E. work we do over the next few weeks. Today, I would like you to go into the RE folder on the left hand side of our Glow page and go to the file called ‘The Rosary Vocabulary’. Research the meanings of the vocabulary found here if you can and try to find out what these words mean.

If you have any questions please send me a dojo and I will do my best to help. Keep up the great work!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!
Miss Doyle 🙂
