Secret Santa Time in Pr7

Excitement was building today in primary 7 as it was time to open our secret Santa gifts! We sat round the tree, listened to our favourite Christmas tunes and handed out our carefully chosen gifts to each other!

“Best fun ever!”       “Thank you!”

“I love it!”           “Best present ever!”

Lots of lovely comments were made. A brilliant way to celebrate Christmas pr7.

Learning about different types of Lines

Today we were learning about lots of different types of lines.

We discovered  new lines called Parallel – We can find parallel lines when they have the same distance between them and we know that they never meet.

We also learned about perpendicular lines. We find these when two lines meet at a right angle.

Problem Solving

We were set to find all the parallel lines and perpendicular lines in our name.

Let it snow, let it snow!

Primary 1/2 used their creative skills once again to make these wonderful snowmen in art. We worked in cooperative groups again for this activity. Each person had an important job to do that would mean our activity went well and everyone tried hard. First we created our background, making it bright and patterned so that our snow men would stand out clearly.

imageimage After that, we waited for our backgrounds to dry and the following week we cut out our snowmen shapes. We glued them together and made them more individual by adding different craft materials.

Lee chose a cool shopping bag!

Marysa chose rose buttons.

Malinka chose a bright paper flower.

Aren’t they just wonderful. You can see them displayed on our class board in the man foyer.

A Catch up with pr 7!

image image image image image imageimageIt was the last week of our jewellery making club and the children amazed me with their shambala making skills! Even our visiting teacher, Mr McGinty joined in and made one too! We celebrated with some chocolate doughnuts!

Pr 7 have working very hard on their topic of Spain and we have studied a focus of bullfighting. The children have worked conscientiously reading, researching, collating results and facts. We began to look at both sides of  bullfighting and decided that some people want it to be banned while others would like the tradition to stay.  We decided to have a class debate on it and invited Mr Young in to watch.  He was completely impressed with our persuasive language and how we can disagree with each other in a positive way. He even said there could be a few future politicians in our class. Watch this space!

It’s Christmas time!!

It’s our most favourite time of year here in P4 and we’ve been getting right into the festive spirit. First of all, we started writing our Christmas Books last week! For the whole month of December we get to be authors of our very own lovely Christmas books. Two kind P7s showed us their Christmas Books from last year and we loved them…

Then it was down to business! First, we looked at pictures from the book that will be used as the inspiration for our own writing. We made predictions from the pictures…

After that we read the book and we started to look at the features of a book. We decided that we needed to write our own Blurbs. Then, we got cracking with the story. We learned how to open a story by describing the setting using amazing adjectives. Then it was time to begin adding the stories to our books and illustrating them…

As well as that, we worked hard to rehearse for the P4-7 Carol Concert and we were awesome on the day. We looked and sang like angels on stage…

Can you believe we managed to fit in maths on top of all that?? Well we did! We have been working on our number facts to 20 to help up with our strategies for addition and subtraction…

And finally, here are yesterday’s Star Writers…these girls wrote excellent story openers using amazing adjectives, super vocabulary and even exclamation marks and ellipsis! Well done!

In class today we were discussing the rights and responsibilities that we have within the school.

In the activity we were loking at what we felt were important rights and responsibilities in our school today and also looking at what we what our school to look like for our future.

Working on the keyboards

We have been learning all about melody in music. We have been singing lots of songs and then finding out which notes to play for the tune. We now know that there are 8 notes in a scale. When we were using the keyboards we were able to find C on the keboard and were able to find all the notes we needed to play the tune for Do Re Me.

Preparing for Christmas in P2/3

What a super busy week we have had so far in Primary 2/3! As well as preparing for our Christmas Nativity performance next Wednesday, we have been producing some wonderful art work for our walls.

On Tuesday we learned a traditional Scottish ceilidh dance called the Military Two-Step. We hope to perfect it before our Christmas party.

We all had a ball at our special Chritmas lunch in the hall today. We enjoyed chatting with our friends and listening to some Christmas tunes as well.
