It’s been a busy two days in Primary 4 as we settle down into our new term.
We learned about the Epiphany. It falls on 6th January and celebrates the day when the Three Wise Men gave gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to the infant Jesus in Bethlehem. We were very interested to learn that in some countries, children don’t open their Christmas presents until the Epiphany. We talked about the gifts we could give to Jesus then we decorated some Epiphany stars to remind us of our promises…
Following the success of our home-reading programme at the end of last term, we have decided to keep it going. We will visit the school library each week to choose our own books to read at home for 20 minutes each night. Mrs McLean has loved hearing about our books and we have loved reading them!
After we picked our books, we discussed what makes a good book. This is what we decided:
- It should be suitable. Not too hard and not too easy (Cameron and Leon)
- It should have some pictures to make it more interesting (Harvey-Jo)
- It should be exciting with lots of things happening in the plot (Lucie)
- It should be funny enough to make you laugh (Molly)
