Children have been exploring the characters and events from within their favourite stories, using their imagination to bring them to life.

The children had a special visit from the Tiger Who Came to Tea

By exploring a variety of media, the children recreated the shark from the story ‘Shark in the Park’.

IMG_4803IMG_4809The children retold the story ‘Walking Through the Jungle’ using musical instruments in search of the various animals from within the story.

What’s on week beginning the 18th May 2015

 The children will be invited to participate in a number of opportunities throughout this week to celebrate Scottish Bookbug week. Please remember to record which bedtime book you and your child have read during this week and return it on Tuesday 26th May 2015.

Heather Strefford will be supporting in the early level playroom today.

Jennifer and Liz will be supporting in the early level playroom today.

4th year pupils and Mr Scott, Principal Teacher from Calderhead High School  will be visiting the nursery this morning to read with the children.

A few of the children will be visiting Getting Better Together to join a Bookbug with a twist session.

Geraldine McCann, Pre Five Learning Support Teacher will be in the early level playroom today.

Infant Massage with Siobhan in the Sunshine Room at 10 am.

Bikeability Birth to Three Family Learning Session at 1 pm.

Tuesday 19th May

4th year pupils and Mr Scott, Principal Teacher from Calderhead High School  will be visiting the nursery this morning to read with the children.

St Patricks Primary School Early Level Transition Visit at 9.15 am, the focus of this session will be early literacy.

Lynn will be attending a Heads of Establishment meeting in Coatbridge.

Mary Ann Williams, Visual Impairment Teacher will be in the early level playroom this morning and in the Sunshine Room this afternoon

Louise Carson, Speech and Language Therapist will be in the Rainbow Room this afternoon.

Remember to pop into the Parent Room with your child to have a look at the books on sale.

Wednesday 20th May

Jennifer and Liz will be supporting in the early level playroom today.

Louise Carson, speech and language therapist will be in the Rainbow Room and then the early level playroom this morning.

Lynn will be out of the nursery today delivering Solihull Refresher training to colleagues.

A few of the children will be heading off to the Nature Park this morning with their favourite stories.

A few of the children this afternoon will be taking their favourite stories to read with the residents at Rosehall Manor Care Home.

Jennifer and Liz will be supporting in the early level playroom today.

Parent and child transition visit to Stane Primary School.

A few of the children will be visiting the local café  this morning in search of the characters from the Tiger Who Came to Tea.

A few of the children will be heading off to the Nature Park this afternoon with their favourite stories.

Rhyme Time session this afternoon for parents and children in the Rainbow and Sunshine Room, where Bookbug will be dressed in his pj’s.

Amanda will be attending a Sleep Scotland Seminar this afternoon.

exploring sound

Children have been exploring sound using a variety of different resources found around the nursery.

Through this we have been learning about loud and quiet, soft and hard and using cause and effect we find out  what we need to do to make different sounds.

Play on Pedals with birth to three families

Children and their parents/carers had fantastic fun in the first session of play on pedals. Together they played games  which helped them identify and name the different parts of their bike. Parents/carers were then guided in how to fit a helmet properly to ensure maximum safety and how to adjust the bike for their children.

For many families cycling is an exciting and important step in a childs development through participating in play on pedals sessions parents/carers are able to watch and learn how to help their children ride.

Tuesday 28th April

The Birth to Three parents will be attending a coffee an information session at Getting Better Together, 9.15 am and 1.15 pm.

Gillian Roberts and Louise Carson, Speech & Language Therapist will be in the nursery this afternoon.

Wednesday 29th April

Today is our BIG GARDEN TIDY where we hope that as many parents, carers and family members will come along and help clear up the gardens.  This event will be on from 8.30 am until 6.30 pm enabling you to drop in at any time.  Please note that due to health and safety restrictions this is an adult only event.

  • Power washing

Please note that due to the lack of ticket sales the fundraising event on the 2nd May at the Station Hotel has been cancelled.  Refund of tickets purchased can be received from Nancy or Lorraine in the admin office.

As we have a number of raffle prizes donated for this event we will be selling raffle tickets into next.  All money raised from this sale will go towards the children’s Leavers Presentation and Bookbug Gifting ceremony on the last week of term. Thank you to everyone who donated and to Rochelle for coordinating  with Station Hotel.

 

 

 

 

Saturday 2nd May 2015

Its not to late to purchase your ticket for the  fundraising event on Saturday 2nd May 2015 at the Station Hotel.  To date there has been approximately 40 tickets sold.

If for some reason sales of tickets do not increase then the event will be postponed and the cost of the coaches to Blair Drummond will be added to the price of entry.

We hope to see as many families and friends at the Station Hotel.
