Primary 1 learn how to keep healthy!
Primary 1 are learning all about the Healthcare System through the interactive learning zones in our classroom. As Article 24 states: all children have the right to the best possible health care, so our class wanted to find out about the different places and people that help to keep us healthy. We have a Baby Clinic Role-play Area, Paramedics Small World Area, Hospital Role-play Area and Pharmacy Role-play Area. The children can investigate, explore and enhance their learning about each aspect, while also developing important social skills, such as turn taking and sharing. Best of all, they are having so much fun!!!

Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 learn about plants in time for Mother’s Day!
Primary 1 worked co-operatively with Primary 1/2 to learn about Plants. We explored the parts of a plant and what a plant needs to grow, before planting our own daffodil bulbs. We watered and cared for the bulbs so that beautiful daffodils grew and we gave our flowers as a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift.

Primary 1 visit the Pharmacy!
Primary 1 visited a Pharmacy as part of our ‘Keeping Healthy’ interdisciplinary learning theme. We found out what happens to prescriptions and saw real pharmacist working hard. Then we examined the difference between medicines you can buy in a shop and the medicines you can only get in a Pharmacy. We know medicines are dangerous and that we should never touch them without an adult.
Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 cooking up a storm!
Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have loved learning about Scotland this term, but particularly enjoyed learning about Scottish food. All children prepared porridge with strawberries and bananas, using the “bridge” cutting technique. We look forward to making new dishes in our next Learning Theme using our super new skills!
Primary 1 learned about Chinese New Year!
Primary 1 had an amazing time learning about Chinese New Year! We learned about each of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac, and found out which animal represented the year we were born. This year is the “Year of the Monkey”, so we celebrated by making lucky money wallets and fabulous Chinese lanterns.
