We have been using the numeracy map to help improve our numeracy skills. Today we played “Target Number” in pairs where we were given a target number and had to work out which can number would add to any given number to reach that target. We’re becoming much faster with our mental calculations now!

More fun during health week
We are having lots of fun and learning new skills during health week. Here are some more of our pictures.
Health week
the children in St Patrick’s are enjoying trying out lots of healthy activities during health week.
Outdoor learning
While the P7s are at Kilbowie, all of the P6 children have been working with Mrs Whomes. Today they have been learning about time and had an outdoor learning challenge to make clocks out of natural materials found in our playground.
Tesco Bags of Help Award!
Tesco has teamed up with greenspace scotland to launch its Bags of Help initiative across Scotland. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
St Patrick’s Primary School has been selected to receive a reward and it’s now up to the shoppers at Tesco to vote for the winners! We would like to improve our playground by adding play equipment for our children. Please vote for us to get the £12,000 grant!
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
The public will now vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.

Today the children in primaries six and seven had a visit from Lynsey from St Andrew’s Hospice. She told us all about the Ambassador programme and how we could sign up to become ambassadors for the hospice. We are looking forward to carrying out lots of fundraising activities.
Layers of the Earth
This term in Science we will be learning about the structure of the Earth and all about the Earth’s layers. This video explains a bit about it.
Musicians of the Future
The children in Primaries 6 and 7 were treated to a Kodaly session with Mrs Wilkinson from North Lanarkshire Council. They learned how to rap to a steady beat and had lots of fun playing all the games and activities.
Hitting the Bottle Workshop
Today a lady came from Summerlee to speak to rooms 12, 13 and 14 on the dangers of alcohol. We took part in drama activities showing what would happen if we drank too much. Here is the video.
We also got to try on beer goggles and see how difficult it was to walk in a straight line and kick a ball when you’ve had too much alcohol.
Investigating Electricity
The children in Rooms 12, 13 and 14 are learning all about electricity and have been carrying out various activities to make and measure electricity.
