Today we took part in a science experiment to find out whether we are non tasters, tasters or super tasters. We had to coat the front of our tongues in food colouring then count the number of papillae in one small section. These are the tiny lumps that cover our tongues. Those of us who have five or fewer in the small area are non tasters, if we have between six and ten we are tasters and if we have more than ten we are super tasters. We discovered that in Room 13, two of us are non tasters, ten are tasters and we have seven super tasters!

We Shall Remember Them
The children in Primaries six and seven have been learning all about Armistice Day and the importance of remembering all of our fallen soldiers. They have written reports and poems and have created some amazing artwork, including a giant stained glass window scene!
Karate!
We had a visit from a karate specialist who taught us some moves and some Japanese. We had great fun training with him.

Budgeting posters
We made posters showing where we bought the items for our budgeting challenge, justifying our choices for each item. Here we are working in our groups.
Comparing costs and budgeting
This week the children have been taking part in a very worthwhile life skills block on budgeting in Maths. They have been comparing costs of the same items from different retailers to work out the best value. They are now taking part in a budgeting challenge to source and “buy” items from a wish list with a budget of £300. The tricky part will be deciding which items to leave off their list if they cannot afford everything!
