Cross Country

Well done to the 10 pupils who ran in today’s Cross Country Festival at Coatbridge Outdoor Centre. Great effort from all of them and very good behaviour. Also a big thanks to coaches Gillian McCardie and Graeme Paterson and parent supporter Lesley Kelly!

The pupils in Loch Awe were cooking with apples collected from the community and schools allotment. They made apple crumble, apple sauce and apple chutney. The crumble was delicious and the chutney and sauce will be available at the Christmas shows.

Free School Clothes

We have a collection of school clothes available to parents free of charge. Some items have been donated by parents and others have been collected from lost property. They will be available at parent’s night next week, or alternatively you can call in at the school via the main office to view what is available.
We have jumpers, cardigans, jackets, blazers, skirts, pinafores, trousers, white shirts, yellow dresses and a small number of polo-shirts.

We are running out of space to store for these items so anything that is left following parent’s night, will be added to our next “Bags for School” collection.

Open Mornings

Thanks to those parents who were able to attend the Loch Tay open morning. Your child should have brought home an evaluation for you to complete. Please return this to the school. Your comments are of value to us and help us to plan future events.

The next open morning will take place this Thursday (29th September) 9.30-1.30 and is for pupils in Loch Lomond Base (P4/5/6) with Mrs Wilson. We hope that you can attend.

The final one, for Loch Awe Base (P6/7) is scheduled for Thursday 27th October, again between 9.30 and 10am.

Loch Awe Homework

Pupils in Loch Awe were issued with a fresh homework pack today. We did discuss the following, but in case of any confusion, here is some more information:

Please copy the missing word sheet into the jotter.
Please do a total of 2 spelling activities- one each week. This week’s rule is that “u” always follows “q”. Pupils should check the words they have chosen are spelled correctly before completing any task.
There will be a different rule and different set of words for next week’s task.
Pupils can write on the maths sheets.
Pupils should make a mind-map of an endangered animal of their own choice. Pupils will need to research this and this is the reading element of this homework block. The mind map should be recorded in the jotter.

All work to be handed in by 30th September.

The standard of the homework for Block 1 was high and the return rate was excellent. Thanks for your on-going report.

Parental Engagement Survey

The authority’s Parental Engagement Strategy is currently being revised.

As well as reviewing the practice since the introduction of the Parental Involvement Act 2006, the revised strategy will draw on schools’ current and intended relationship with parents.

To that end a survey has been created for parents to reflect and comment on current practice and suggest how parental engagement might be improved.

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who has handed in their donations to the school. We are now so close to our target of £600 with £599.90 being raised so far. If you still have donations to hand in, please do so by the end of the week. This will allow us to order the online teaching resources as soon as possible. Thanks again!
