Happy Halloween!

October 29, 2015 by Miss Gibb | 1 Comment

The children had a ‘spooktacular’ time at the Halloween disco on Tuesday night. The costumes were fabulous – it was clear a lot of time and effort and gone in to them. Well done boys and girls!

JRSO – Cycling and Scooter Survey

After the recent class trial of bikes and scooters the JRSO team are keen to hear your views and suggestions for the future. A letter asking for your views has gone out via ‘pupil post’ and the JRSO team will be collating responses over the coming weeks to see how we can continue to improve this opportunity safely for all.

Shiver Me Timbers!

P2/1 have thoroughly enjoyed their Pirate topic. They have built pirate ships, sent messages in a bottle, painted ships on the computer, pretended to be pirates and filled chests with treasure. They have learned about real life pirates and life aboard a pirate ship, pirate clothes and food. Oh, aaarrrgghh we’ve had great fun, we have!

Lime Tree Larder P4/3

October 7, 2015 by Miss Gibb | 1 Comment

Today Primary 4/3 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Lime Tree Larder in Kilbirnie as part of their topic on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Here, they got to learn all about the chocolate making process from bean to bar. They also learned about the different types of chocolate that are made at Lime Tree Larder and loved getting involved in making and tasting chocolate. For most, it was their first time tasting 100% chocolate! With no sugar or milk added, they expected not to like it but most actually enjoyed it! The children got to enjoy ice cream, also made at Lime Tree Larder, while they watched a short film about the chocolate making process. They listened very well and were able to answer questions in the quiz that followed. We were lucky with the weather! It was very sunny in Kilbirnie and the children enjoyed spending time in the Lime Tree Larder courtyard.

Wider Achievement

Well done to some of P6 who were very active at the weekend. Some of the girls ran a 2.5k in Glasgow in under 22 minutes.

Others performed really well at a swimming gala.

One really active pupil did both!

Well done from all of P6.

Butterbeer!

Primary six were making butterbeer in class this week. We were using our measuring skills and learning how to accurately follow a recipe. We then wrote our own instructions ensuring that we used descriptive verbs and that our method was in chronological order.

I think it’s fair to say we all enjoyed it.
