Last week Primary Seven used the well known song from Toy Story “You’ve got a friend in me” as a stimulus for philosophical discussion. The children came up with some excellent questions from the lyrics and the discussion covered what it means to have a friend in someone, what ‘friend’ means to them, whether being a friend has to be agreed by both sides and whether friends have to share interests. Very interesting discussion! They listened well to each other and built on others’ thinking with their own ideas.
