Our Rights Respecting Schools Steering Group reformed in September 2018, with members from OP.1 up to P.7 and we welcomed three parent members.
The group meets regularly and have been putting into place our action points from plan for achieving the RRS Silver award.
October saw the introduction of Right of the Month. Each month the group chose an Article from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as a focus Right for our school and families to consider, discuss and put into place. Check Twitter for monthly updates from the RRS group as to which Article is being focused on.
In December, the group encouraged the whole school community to help other children with barriers to the Right to play, by organising a children Christmas Choosing Treasure Chest. The group were inundated with donations of small toys, colouring books and pens/pencils and a whole host of other fun things that were then donated to the North Lanarkshire branch of Woman’s Aid. We were all very proud!
