P1/2 enjoyed celebrating World Book Day and brought their favourite book in to class. They wrote a character description from their books, recognised the prices of different books and designed a new front cover for their books. We listened to stories all day and read with our friends. We also had Nurse Rudy and Nurse Alexandra making our reading buddies feel better 💕

Developing Literacy
Look at what we have been doing in literacy!
Our Three Read story is called Meggie Moon, written by Elizabeth Baguley. The blurb states that it is a great book. Ask your child to tell you all about the adventures of Meggie and her friends.
This is how we have been singing Rock –a Bye-Baby during play.
During Show and Tell we had great fun watching the performance of 1, 2,3,4,5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive. We loved it thank you for bringing in your own character.
Literacy fun activity ideas to try at home.
Show your child their name and see if they can find their name when in a group of other words.
Can they find other letters which are the same as the ones in their name?
Some children may be able to build their name with letter cards or magnetic letters.
Your child may be recognizing logos, words and letters all around them, explore these with them, discussing what you see.
If your child shows an interest in a letter, for example the first letter in their name, tell them the name of the letter e.g. that is the letter S, it makes the sound sssss.
You could see if you can find other words which start with the same letter.

Group 2 – Week 2
This week we looked for a different shape on our walk to the site – triangles. We discovered them on road signs and roofs. The road signs even had numbers on them! We had visitors with us today. Ladies from other nurseries wanted to join us to see all the fun that we have. They were very impressed when we were able to tell them all the different ways to stay safe when playing in the woods.
This week we made a den using different materials e.g. ropes, pegs, fabrics, beads and ribbons. We worked together …… tying ropes to the trees, attaching fabrics using the giant pegs. What do you think of our den? Our visitors thought it looked wonderful!
We also had lots of fun lying on a hammock. When we looked up we could see the top of the trees (which were really tall), lots of white clouds in the sky and some of us even saw branches that looked like stairs going to the top of a tree….. it was AMAZING!
Protesting.
Primary four have written another letter to object to the dam being built and have decided the want to protest to show how unhappy they are.
They are busy writing letters and preparing their signs!
Becoming Digging Machines.
Yesterday, the children worked in groups to use their body and actions to resemble a dam building machine. The groups had to connect, make a slow motion action and make a sound.
They did great and it was very interesting to watch.
