As part of our assembly this morning, we came together as a whole school to discuss and share our ideas about what rights should be included in our SCHOOL CHARTER and our PLAYGROUND CHARTER. Here is what we came up with:
New Monkland Primary School & Nursery
Growing together through fun, happy and meaningful learning experiences where EVERYONE is HONEST, POSITIVE, KIND and treated with FAIRNESS and RESPECT —- We are a Gold Right’s Respecting School & Nursery and a Breast Feeding Friendly Establishment!
Japanese teachers came in today to teach P7 all things wonderful about Japan: Below are some of the pictures and videos. We learned songs, played games and found out lots about Japanese culture.
Primary 7 had a fantastic morning entertaining our grandparents, neighbours and friends. The tension for the game of BINGO was immense, but funnyyyyyyyyyyy! The cakes, tea and coffee went down a storm and there were some delighted ‘YOUNG’ people in the hall who won some fantastic hampers. ENJOY!!! A great morning all round and a big THANKS to everyone for coming along and helping to spread some Christmas cheer by singing along with us…
Lots of love at Christmas time from Miss McLaughlin, Mrs Reid and all the children in Primary 7.
Primary 7 are well under way preparing for their Christmas Enterprise tomorrow. We are having a ‘Christmas Coffee Morning’ for the elderly in the village. We will serve cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee. We will also have free raffles, (some fantastic hampers to be won) and a few games of BINGO… We can’t wait to spread Christmas Cheer!!! 🙂
In P7b we chose which resources we wanted to work with to create poetry and poppies…We came together to share our thoughts and ideas as a class and then we worked in pairs.
See in the gallery some of the work we created!
WE WILL REMEMBER!
Mrs Simm’s worked with us to teach us all about the Disciples, where they came from, what they did for a living, what parts of the Bible they wrote and any letters they may have written. Mrs Simm’s taught us this through drama and making use of technology.
Tune in next week to see part 2…
Primary 7 wanted to swap roles with the teacher. They have taught Art, RME, Drama and PE so far. What a fantastic time they have had.
Mrs Reid, “I have been super impressed and blown away by the level of planning and creative ideas that have went into each lesson. The skills and talents that the children learn outwith school are incredible.”
Rachel, “I personally thought my lesson went very well and I think everyone enjoyed it. I did find it tricky, at times, trying to get everyone’s attention, although they were having so much fun: this was a good thing.”
WATCH THIS SPACE FOR THE REST OF OUR UPCOMING LESSONS!
We created origami stars using 12 pieces of paper, it was tricky to start with, but we got there in the end! Why don’t you have a go?
Primary 7b were fascinated by the Rosetta satellite and watching the end of the mission. Rosetta was crashed into a comet so it didn’t become space junk! We then became news reporters and created a Drama sketch.
As an Eco school we do as much as we can to promote a sustainable environment. Today we celebrated Earth day in our classrooms. We researched the history of Earth day and some classes took part in art activities.
