Global Storylines in P4

P4 have started their new interdisciplinary focus “Whose Water, Whose Power?” It involves using a global storyline and will incorporate lots of drama which the children are very excited about.

So far, we have discussed what a community means to us, and differentiated between needs and wants. The discussions were great and I was one impressed teacher. Looking forward to all of the learning yet to take place.

Then we ranked them from most important to least important. This was really hard!

Snow Day

Primary four took great advantage of the snowy weather and went outside to their decking area to build snowmen. The children worked in small teams to build the best snowman.

Who do you think takes the “Best Snowman” title?

Nets in Primary Four.

The boys and girls are learning about 3D objects and can tell you many facts.  During our maths the children have been designing and assembling their own nets! So far, they have mastered a cube and cuboid. Have a look at how proud they are of their hard work, and all of the amazing learning they do with different resources.

Primary Four’s Educational Visit.

On Wednesday, primary four visited The Motherwell Heritage Centre to learn more about The Romans. The children participated in a fun workshop where they got to try on armour and togas.

It was a great day!

Have a look at the photos to see all the fun we had.

P4 Can Wrap ;).

The boys and girls in primary four have been learning about healthy eating and put their knowledge into action today. They selected what fillings they wanted and made their own heathy, scrumptious wrap. Some children tried a new food for the first time today too, which is fabulous.

We enjoyed our tasty wraps on the decking in the sunshine.

We are a FairAchiever School!

The Fairtrade Committee, as well as all of the boys and girls, at New Monkland Primary have been working so hard to learn and implement Fairtrade, and have been awarded their new FairAchiever Award.
Over the next few years, we will continue to focus on Fairtrade and become the best Fairtrade School possible.
A big thank you to all of the parental support, too.
