Woodland Week 1
Group 1
We became aware of how to safe when playing in the woods. It is important that we stay within the boundaries which are coloured fabrics tied to the trees. We also helped to risk assess the area by looking for any possible dangers, such as hidden tree stumps, and placed a plastic cone on top of them.
We made lots of discoveries……Mrs Tree (who likes getting a hug from us), lots of pine cones lying on the ground (it was fun collecting them), a little fairy house (which we are going to decorate next time) and we found little creatures hiding on the tree stumps (Can you spot the red spider and slug in our photos?)
Week 2
This week we were very busy making a wonderful den. We all worked together, using lots of different materials e.g. giant pegs, ropes and fabrics. Our den looked super……it made us invisible. It was fun sitting in it whilst eating our snack.
We also discovered something interesting hanging between two trees……it was a hammock! “When lying on the hammock I looked up and could see the big trees”,
“I could see the rain coming down from the sky”.
We worked with a partner searching for lots of colours/ different shapes of leaves which were on our spotter sheets. “I found gold, green and yellow leaves. Reddy brown and dark brown as well”. “I looked for gold”. “I found different shapes of leaves…..I found 4 and they were green and big”.
Do you like our fairy house which we made? “I put some acorns in it….they are for decoration. I think the fairy will like it as she if going to have a party”.
Woodland
Week 4
This week we went on a stick hunt. We looked for different sticks – long, short, chunky, thin, rough, smooth and leafy, and found lots of them. We were able to match them to the pictures on our spotter sheets.
We each chose one of the sticks to make a magic wand. We made them really special by decorating them with autumn leaves. They looked super! We used them to make magic spells and change each other into frogs, lions, rabbits, tigers and dinosaurs!!
We were also busy being Bark Artists. We chose a tree and rubbed over the bark with a crayon, discovering lots of patterns. Using some of the sticks which we found, we created a woodland picture frame for our pieces of work. They looked fantastic!!
