Volcanoes and dinosaurs

Following on from the discussion on lavapools and volcanoes, the children began to speak about this in some more detail.  Shay could tell me that “Very cold water turns lava into rock.  Volcanoes are full of lava and are very hot and steam comes out, lava kills the dinosaurs.”  Daniel shared that “Lava is very hot and it can even be under the sea.”

We then created a small world area of dinosaurs, grass, wood and material for lava.  This will extend the children’s imaginative play skills and also further their discussion on this topic.
