The Green Group have been listening to the story  “Hungry Hettie.”  They are becoming familiar with some basic book handling skills and can identify the front and back cover, the proper way to hold the book and can discuss the Author and Illustrator and discuss their role.  They have also been looking at the spine of the book and are aware of its purpose.  We have been learning new vocabulary and the meaning of this while listening out for it within the story.  We have learned who the characters are and discussed and imitated their feelings and are able to identify some of these feeling to our own experiences.  The children were able to speak about the setting which the story took place and we discussed the big problem, we also were able to identify how this problem got solved.  The children were all keen to meet Hettie and explore some of the resources from the story.  Some of the children wrote a shopping list with some of the items Hettie ate.  We took this list to Asda and bought these foods and brought it back to the nursery for our friends to taste.

“Callum and Kirsty gave Hettie too much treats.”

“Granny says no more treats for Hettie.”

“Callum and Kirsty gave Hettie a big hug instead of treats.”
