If your child is unable to attend school, please ensure you contact us as soon as possible.
This can be done by:
- Phoning our office on 01698 522721
- Emailing enquiries-at-netherton@northlan.org.uk
- Replying to the absence reporting message we have sent you
We understand that for a variety of reasons, learners may need to be absent from school for a longer period of time. Also, there may be rare occasions where school buildings are closed to learners. In these circumstances, we have a provision of activities that can be offered to ensure your child can continue to access their right to an education (Article 28, UNCRC) and achieve.
Even if your child is not able to be in the school, they remain at the heart of all we do. We have produced a Health and Wellbeing Support File to assist families that can be used during any periods away from school.

Online Learning Tasks
At the start of the session, your child will be issued a letter with information on how to access the North Lanarkshire Virtual Classroom. This will have a range of activities that can be completed online and offline if they are away from school.
To access this, please use either a laptop or PC.
Offline Learning Additional Acitvities
If for any reason, learners are unable to learn in the school, teachers have prepared and sent home examples of tasks children can complete to keep learning at home. Most of these can be completed offline.

Support Accessing Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a resource that allows learning to take place beyond the classroom. Children can access this through Glow on a web browser or on the Microsoft Teams App (Available for Windows and Mac as well as tablets/smartphones through the Google Play Store and App Store).
Information on how children can access Microsoft Teams can be found here.
Teams is a great way for children to share what they have been doing at home with their class as well as their teachers. Working on Teams also allows teachers the chance to support learners by giving feedback and advice.
If you have any problems accessing Teams, please contact the school where we will be happy to try and assist you.
