Primary 2/3/4 – Newspaper Group

Since January we have been working hard on our maths. We have been learning how to divide and working on our mental maths. We practise our times tables each day.

In gym we have been practising balances and rolls, we enjoy the teddy bear roll.

Our new topic this term is Farm to Fork. We have looked at where food comes from and the different food chains in the world.

Scottish Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our fantastic pupils on Friday afternoon.   We were very proud to see all our children stand up and present their learning to parents and the wider community.  We certainly have a school full of confident individuals.  I would like to say a big thank you to all staff for getting involved in making our assembly a success.  Our ‘Friends of Kirko’ Shotts’ group did an outstanding job with the home baking, tea and coffee as usual.

Thank you

Children’s Wellbeing Survey

As the cut off date has now passed for opting out of this, children in Primary5,6 and 7 will be using laptops to complete this survey about their Health and wellbeing.  If you have opted out already, your children will not take part in this.  If you require any clarification on the survey, please contact Mr Murray at the school before Thursday.

House Christmas Challenge

There was some excellent teamwork in show today as pupils took part in house challenges with a Christmas theme.  Children had to collaborate and answer questions on the Christmas Story, general knowledge, movies and music.  There were also challenges for each year group such as decorating a cake, Christmas door hangers and Santa collages.  Once finished, teachers returned to judge each challenge and gave out house points accordingly.  It was a very close contest and we’ll find out next week how the scores affected house point totals.
