Health and Wellbeing

Assemblies

We use our assemblies to look after the health and wellbeing of all our pupils. Below is the planner I create at the start of the year to ensure we cover lots of different areas of health and wellbeing:

Laughter and Happiness Assembly: having a good laugh can boost your mental health.

We had a good laugh (maybe not at my jokes) during our assembly about laughter. The biggest laugh came from trying to make this superstar laugh:

The House Captains helped lead an assembly on the SHANARRI indicator, and one of our school values, SAFE.

We try to help our pupils understand that big emotions can lead to unsafe choices. We looked at ways to manage big emotions and how to be SAFE.

As adults, we need to help our children by being a positive role model and showing how we manage our big emotions. We need to remember that our children’s brains are only young, so they will need help co-regulating their emotions – simply put, you need to help them help themselves in managing emotions.

All emotions are OK! We as adults have all the emotions. We just need to help our children with how they act when having a big emotion. Togetherness The Solihull Approach is an amazing source of information on helping us help our children. Link here.
