Kilsyth Academy – News 02/10/15

Our Prefects, Captains and House Captains enjoyed a teambuilding day at Fordell Firs Activity Centre, in Fife. The weather was fantastic and the pupils took part in short teambuilding exercises, followed by climbing and caving. It proved to be a very enjoyable day, which we hope will pay great dividends and we continue through the year.

Members of the S6 Leadership group are organising some charity events in support of the international refugee crisis, next week. Throughout the week they will be asking staff and pupils to donate spare change and Friday 9th will be a non-uniform day, with pupils being asked to pay £1 not to wear uniform.

Kilsyth Academy hosted pupils from Kirkintilloch High School and Cumbernauld Academy, for the Glasgow University workshop on ‘Reach and Access to a Career’. Pupils from all three schools felt that the workshop was of great benefit to them in making plans for leaving school and moving on to university.

We are pleased to welcome Mrs Brownlie and welcome back Mr O’Brien to the English department. Together they will cover Ms Gough’s maternity leave. We hope they will enjoy their time in Kilsyth Academy. Congratulations to Ms Gough on the birth of her baby boy too.

The school will close for the October holiday on Friday 9th October, at 2.55 p.m. and will re-open on Monday 19th October, at the usual time.

The S4 Parents’ Meeting will take place on Thursday 22nd October, from 4.15 until 6.45 p.m. and pupils should currently be making appointments with their teachers.
