Kilsyth Academy News – 24/09/15

Congratulations to the pupils from S4, S5 and S6, who took part in the St Andrew’s Hospice 6k run, in Strathclyde Park, last weekend. Everyone completed the course, with some fairly fast times, and raised sponsor money for this very worthy cause.

All S1 pupils enjoyed a very successful Welcome Event, last week. Each class attended four sessions – the Mobile Adventure Course, Fitness Test, House Logos and Teambuilding. The pupils also raised money towards the S1 Residential, which will take place next May.

The first S4 tracking report for S4 has now been issued, together with an appointment sheet for the Parents’ Meeting on Thursday 22nd October, from 4.15 – 6.45 p.m. It is important that parents make every effort to attend this event, to meet with class teachers and agree priorities for the months ahead, as we approach SQA examinations.

One of our S1 Enrichment classes has been learning about our beehive and how the bees live within it. This proved a very popular activity for those involved.

Congratulations to the class representatives, elected to the Pupil Council, for 2015-16. They are:

S1 – Sophie Bridges, Hamish McMillan, Eve McTiernan, Dylan Grant

S2 – Harry Thomson, Carly McLaughlin, Ellie Andrews, Holly Shaw

S3 – Rebekah Stark, Megan Shaw, Ross Chalmers, Ryan Devine

S4 – Karis Abercrombie, Karen Marshall, Abby Bankier, Ross Alexander

S5 – Heather Taylor, Ross Quinn, Archie Grant, Jack Rennie

S6 – Emily Muir, Lucy Rutherford, Christopher Smith, Lewis Cameron.

The Technical department has announced their ‘Techno’ Pupils of the Month, for September. They are: S1 – Hamish McMillan, S2 – Caitlin Fisher, S3 – Megan Shaw, S4 – Ben Laing, S5/6 – Ryan Keenan. Well done!

The Parent Council is running a Charity Quiz Night in the school cafeteria, on Thursday 1st October, starting at 7.15 p.m. We hope that there will be a good response from parents, who are welcome to come along either as teams of 4-6 people or we are happy to make up teams on the night. The entry fee is £5 per team and this includes refreshments. There will also be a tombola. During the interval, there will be a very short AGM of the Parent Forum and members will be happy to chat to anyone who might consider joining the Parent Council.
