P6/7 have been working hard on researching personal topics this term as part of their homework. The class thoroughly enjoyed finding out about each other’s learning during presentations last week. Well done on all your effort.
Delightful Debating
Primary 5 were very passionate when debating about saving the rainforest today. The children worked in groups to debate for and against saving the rainforest. They each took on a role of a character and explored ideas of meat processing companies who need the land for cattle ranches. We also had some Greenpeace campaigners who explained that 20% of our oxygen comes from the rainforest and that many animals and indigenous peoples’ homes are being destroyed.
50th Anniversary Garden Party
A fantastic time was had by all at our 50th anniversary garden party. Children showcased their knowledge and skills by leading parents and members of the community on a scavenger hunt round our vegtable beds, mini beast hotel, sensory garden and ornamental plants.
Our fabulous parent council lead a community event with the mounted police, dog handlers, fire brigade and various sweet treats!
Thank you to everyone helped organise this celebration that brought members of our community together.
Media fun in P4/5
We have been learning about different elements of film through a mini topic on media. We will be watching different trailers and finding out about the use of sound and music, colour and light as well as camera angles, setting, storylines and characters.
We started by watching the trailer for the new Beauty and the Beast and taking notes on each of these elements. We also found out about different film genres. Beauty and the Beast is a Fantasy and a Romance.
Glenmanor Garden Party – Primary 4
We had a fabulous time celebrating the 50th anniversary of our school. We had great fun taking part in the scavenger hunt then had a look at all the wonderful enterprise stalls, including our own. Then we had some of the delicious cakes and refreshing drinks. We came back into the hall and worked with our parents, carers and other family members on making our newspaper plant pots. Once our pots were made, we filled them with compost and sprinkled some seeds into the soil. A fantastic time was had by all.
