P5 Garden Event

We had an amazing turnout from parents for our open event last week. The children and their parents/grandparents enjoyed painting their plant pots together. They then had to choose from a selection of herbs and vegetables to plant. They could chose from coriander, dill, oregano and many more. The vegetables available to plant ranged from red chillies to sweet peppers and shallots. The class were so involved in what they were doing and the children really enjoyed having a member of their family there to help and support them. The children will now take their plant pots home and look after them over the summer holidays. Thank you so much to everyone who came along and we hope you enjoyed it!

P3 Parents Open Event Part 1 (Garden)

P3 were amazed at the turnout for our final Parents Open Event on Mon 15th June.

Parents, guardians and pupils had previously planted sunflower seeds back in February.  The pupils have then been caring for their sunflowers at home and have now brought them to school for planting.  We were very pleased with how well the children have taken care of their plants and how tall they have grown!

The winner of the tallest sunflower goes to David with a sunflower height of 144cms!  Well done!

Pupils tied their sunflowers to the railings or sticks for support and made sure they used some compost and water to help them grow.

K’nex West of Scotland Final 10 June 2015

Beth and Jack participated in the West of Scotland K’nex Challenge at University of Glasgow today.  We were first to arrive at the beautiful Hunter Halls so we helped the organisers set up the equipment. The challenge today was to create a fork lift truck. Our team achieved the brief and were pleased with their results.

Unfortunately we were not placed this time but we were delighted to find out that Beth and Jack had reached the top 26 of 8266 pupils who participated in the challenge! 254 schools entered and only 13 schools were represented in the West of Scotland final today. Well done to our team who celebrated with an ice cream!

Congratulations to the winning team from Lainshaw Primary, East Ayrshire and the runners up from Newington Primary, Dumfriesshire!

Teamwork!

They will participate in the K’nex  West of Scotland final, held in University of Glasgow tomorrow.

This highly effective  team have already achieved so much by winning the Chryston Cluster challenge, then becoming runners up at the Area Final (featured in the photograph above) so they are already true winners as far as Glenmanor are concerned.

We all wish you well tomorrow and with your talent, fantastic teamwork and growth mindset, the sky is the limit!
