Our ‘Grow It, Cook It, Eat it @ Glenmanor!'( ID Ref: 0001696) application has been selected to receive an award from the Co-op Local Fund in our area. This means that we are guaranteed to receive some money when funds are distributed at the end of February 2016.
We asked for funding to buy a potting shed/outdoor changing area and a polytunnel for our school gardens.
How much our cause will receive is now up to how our members vote. To help our cause benefit as much as possible, could all parents and members of the community vote for us by visiting www.co-oplocalfund.co.uk from 16th November. Voting closes at 5pm on 11th December.
All members of The Co-operative Group will get one vote and be able to place this vote to support their favourite cause when voting opens on 16th November. It’s easy for non-members to join by visiting www.co-oplocalfund.co.uk
Thanks in advance!
Could I ask all parents to work in partnership with us by ensuring all items of your child’s clothing are labelled with their full name please?
Could you also check your child’s clothing periodically to ensure that they have not brought home another child’s clothes?
Any lost property is kept at the reception. It will be kept there until the end of the term and then it will be given to the Parent Council to sell at vastly reduced prices in their Eco Shop.
Thanks in advance for your anticipated support!
General Information
The pupils worked well together to ensure that every child was comfortable with their allocated dormitory and activity group. We have exclusive use of the second floor seaward block at Kilbowie. Each dormitory has two sets of bunkbeds, a wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom. There will be a maximum of 4 children in each dorm.
Mrs Martin, Ms Hendry and Mrs Allan will accompany the pupils to Kilbowie with Mrs Martin taking the overall lead. Mrs Martin will directly oversee the boys’ dormitories, which are Rooms 13a to Room 15 and Ms Hendry will directly oversee the girls’ dormitories, which are Rooms 9a to Room 11. Mrs Allan will also support all pupils.
The activity groups have a maximum of 10 pupils and are made up completely of boys and girls from Glenmanor.
Payment
Kilbowie must be paid in full by Friday 30 October 2015.
Clothes
Please see below the clothing list that was previously issued in the Kilbowie – Information for Parents and Pupils booklet.
Medication
If your child requires medication while at Kilbowie, you should have completed the parental request form and handed this in to school. You should have obtained a separate supply of medicine, properly labelled from the pharmacist. Please ensure that the medicine container is clearly labelled with the name of your child, the name of the medicine, the dosage and time to be taken. Please put the medicine in a clear plastic bag and ensure that this is also clearly labelled with the child’s name. You must ensure that there is enough medicine to last until your child returns from the residential excursion.
If your child experiences travel sickness, please follow the procedures above and inform a member of staff at check in.
If your child suffers from asthma or another medical condition, it is essential that you inform me of any restrictions that need to be applied to his/her activities and the medication that has been prescribed for routine and emergency treatment.
If you child suffers from epileptic attacks, diabetes or anaphylactic shock, it is essential that you inform me of the appropriate emergency treatment which should be given.
Spendng Money
Children should bring no more than £5 for the tuck shop in £1 coins or smaller change. Children can also bring a further £5 to spend on souvenirs at the “Green Welly” pit stop on the way home from Kilbowie. Please ensure that your child’s money is in a purse/wallet with the child’s name clearly labelled. Kilbowie operates a healthy living policy. They do not sell fizzy drinks or crisps and if anyone is thirsty, they have bottled water and cartons of still juice.
Check In
All pupil and parents should access the school via the main doors at 9am on Monday 2 November. There will be two check in desks, one for boys and one for girls, where you will be asked to hand over any medication and spending money and these will be safely stored by staff going to Kilbowie. Once checked in, you will be asked to wait in the hall until the bus arrives at 9.30am.
Bus Journey
The bus takes approximately 3½ hours from Moodiesburn to Oban. The bus stops at the Green Welly for a comfort break only and will arrive at Kilbowie in time for lunch. Please ensure that your child has had a good breakfast and do not provide sweets and drinks for the bus journey (or your child’s stay) as we don’t want children being sick on the way. They will be given a substantial lunch when they arrive at Kilbowie.
Updates
We will keep you updated via twitter (@GlenmanorPS) so please follow us for notifications and the pupils will add updates to the blog (search for Glenmanor blog).
Missing pupil has been found safe and well. Thank you to all parents for your support.
Please spend a few minutes planning ahead with your child. The cashless system is now up and running and, until the online payments system begins, it is advisable to give your child enough money to put on their cashless card for the week ahead to save them queuing up every day. Please note that all pupils eneitled to a free meal no longer require a ticket, their cashless card holds this information.
Please see our Winter Newsletter, issued to all families today. Severe Weather plans to be issued next week. We have reverted back to the August PE timetable apart from some slight changes to the days for P2, P2/3 and P7.
