The children in the nursery were very eager to take on the role of a Fire Fighter and participate in the “5 Little Fire Fighters ,standing in a row ” song. They had so much fun painting pieces of cardboard red to make a super fire engine.

The boys and girls in the nursery did really well participating in the road safety drama to learn how to cross a road safely. We used one of our little cars and we painted a zebra crossing to help the children understand and demonstrate how to keep safe whilst crossing a road.
The boys and girls in the nursery have learned so much about Autumn , that they were able to look for Autumn objects whilst exploring the school grounds with Mrs Donald. The children found it very exciting to collect new seeds from the sunflower plant and use big numbers to count each one.
The children in the nursery had so much fun using the dressing up clothes to take on the role of the characters from ” Little Red Riding Hood” to dramatise and re-tell the story without using the book. The teachers were so impressed at how well the children could remember all the words from the story ! Great work everyone !
We practised the spelling strategy of diacritical marking on the teacher whiteboard this morning.
The boys and girls in the nursery have been so busy , at the creative table making fantastic woodland paintings with Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf ! The children were expressing their thoughts and feelings about the furry character from the story. The fantastic pictures are now displayed in the nursery cloakroom for everyone to see ! Well done boys and girls !!
This week in the nursery the boys and girls were being little “Detectives” and were encouraged to approach their friends and teachers to find out if ” Anyone had seen the Big Bad Wolf ? / Where was he / What did he look like ?” . They have been developing their mark making and writing skills by recording everyones response. The children were then able to make lovely detailed drawings of the sneaky fella !!
Today P1 helped prepare for Barney Bear’s birthday party by wrapping presents, practising party games, making decorations, cards and part food.
In nursery last week , the boys and girls had the opportunity to listen to three stories:” The elves and the shoemaker /Little Red Riding Hood and The Gigantic Turnip”. At the end of the session they had the opportunity to vote for their favourite story by placing a token into one of the boxes.
The winner was ………”Little Red Riding Hood” . The boys and girls are very excited to learn all about this traditional tale and participate in all the fantastic activities planned for this topic.
