p4/5 took their active literacy outdoors today and enjoyed some partner reading, note taking and some metalinguistics in the sunshine!
We have been learning about different kinds of angles. Today we were using protractors and measuring angles, then drawing some of our own.
Today we looked at different kinds of angles. We focussed on right angles and learned that a right angle is 90 degrees. We drew some shapes and marked on the right angles and hunted for some in the classroom and outside!
P4/5 have been learning about the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Today we were set a challenge – to build a bridge using a choice of materials and see if it could hold a certain weight. We worked well together and became quite competitive! Have a look at our results.
We have been working hard on symmetry in maths this week. Today we used our knowledge of symmetry to complete the other half of some well known faces! We had great fun!
P4/5 have been finding out about the Battle of Stirling Bridge which took place on the 11th of September in 1297. Scotland won! We compared the two armies and the tactics behind such a significant victory. We then had great fun trying on the chain mail and weapons both armies may have had.
P4/5 have been learning about the Ragman Rolls this week. Ragman Rolls refers to the collection of instruments by which the nobility of Scotland subscribed allegiance to King Edward I of England. We created our own using tea bags and scrap material then got everyone in the class to sign it! We have also been busy researching William Wallace using a variety of sources, looking at which ones are reliable or not.
This week in P4/5 we started our new topic, Wallace and Bruce. We introduced the topic by learning about King Alexander III and the difficulties in choosing a new King or Queen after he died. We looked at family trees and created our own.
We then investigated our current monarchy and the heirs to throne. A huge Happy 90th Birthday to Queen Elizabeth!
P4/5 and P5 have had great fun working together on our mini Easter topic, Charlotte’s Web. We have looked at the importance of friendship and trust then looked at elements of sacrifice both Jesus and Charlotte made.
Here we are creating poems about being a good friend.
