Building Bridges

P4/5 have been learning about the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Today we were set a challenge – to build a bridge using a choice of materials and see if it could hold a certain weight. We worked well together and became quite competitive! Have a look at our results.

Ready for Battle

P4/5 have been finding out about the Battle of Stirling Bridge which took place on the 11th of September in 1297. Scotland won! We compared the two armies and the tactics behind such a significant victory. We then had great fun trying on the chain mail and weapons both armies may have had.

Ragman Rolls

P4/5 have been learning about the Ragman Rolls this week. Ragman Rolls refers to the collection of instruments by which the nobility  of Scotland subscribed allegiance to King Edward I of England. We created our own using tea bags and scrap material then  got everyone in the class to sign it! We have also been busy researching William Wallace using a variety of sources, looking at which ones are reliable or not.

Royal fun in P4/5

This week in P4/5 we started our new topic, Wallace and Bruce. We introduced the topic by learning about King Alexander III and the difficulties in choosing a new King or Queen after he died. We looked at family trees and created our own.

We then investigated our current monarchy and the heirs to throne. A huge Happy 90th Birthday to Queen Elizabeth!
