P2 and their ‘Sense’ of Adventure!

Primary 2 had a great time in the Sensory Garden, Community Garden and Playground this morning. They took notes on their clip boards of things they experienced through their five senses.

Why not think about what you can “sense” in your own home?

The children smelled the herbs in the sensory garden. The lavender was very strong!

Taking notes on the clip board to help with a writing lesson later.

Smelling the fragrant plant in the Community Garden

Using the picnic benches in the sheltered area to finish our notes.

P2 Star Writers!

Here are some of the very proud Star Writers from the last few weeks! The children have written acrostic poems, sense poems and recount texts during taught writing time and are working hard on excellent presentation. Well done everyone!

P2 Explore Senses through Purposeful Play

The boys and girls in Primary 2 enjoyed taking part in Purposeful Play this afternoon to explore their topic of senses.

The children used a range of materials to create artwork of their own iris.

They used the I-pads and Smartboard to investigate the sense organs. Why not try out a website called, “Sid the Science Kid.”

They used play-dough at the malleable area to create models of their own sense organs!

Well done Primary 2!

P2 and Remembrance Day 2015

Over the past few days, the boys and girls have been learning a bit about Remembrance Day.

“I know the fighting happened in Flanders Field” – David Young

“I learned that we wear a poppy because they grew in the place where a war was” – Stephanie Gibb

“There were bombs and it was Germany we were fighting in the first war” – Andrew Armour

They created a fantastic display to showcase all their hard work.

Primary 2 also created fantastic acrostic poems using the word “REMEMBER” as a stimulus.

The children made personal message poppies to thank the soldiers and servicemen who gave up their lives for their country.

Christmas Carol Service Sneak Peek!

The boys and girls in the junior and senior choirs have been hard at work practising for a very special Christmas Carol Service. Here is a sneak peek of the P4-7 choir singing a song called, “Tonight!”

P2 Learning French

Primary 2 are enjoying learning some French greetings. The boys and girls can ask and answer, “What is your name?” and, “How old are you?” in French. Practise asking and answering these questions with someone at home! We display the new vocabulary on our French window.
