P2 have been learning to subtract 10 and 11 using a jumping strategy on a hundred square. The boys and girls have been concentrating really hard during maths time. Well done!

P2 and P2/3 Central Net Game Skills
The boys and girls in P2 and P2/3 have been working hard to develop their skills for central net games. Some children practised underarm throws while others tried throwing and catching the ball or shuttlecock above their own heads. We also tried balancing a tennis ball on a racket while walking to improve our focus concentration skills.
P2 Won Class of the Week!
P2 won class of the week this week! This week the focus was good manners. Our class managed to walk respectfully in the corridors, hold the doors for other people, say please and thank you, listen well to the teacher and say good morning and good afternoon. The class received 28 Respect and Collect tokens.
We played lots of games in our class during our extra playtime and we had lots of fun! We hope we win next week too!
Burns Competition at Glenmanor
Each class have been given a Scots poem to learn at home as part of our annual Burns celebrations at Glenmanor Primary.
All children will have the opportunity to recite their poem from memory within their own class and some children will be selected as finalists to perform at a whole-school Burns assembly at the end of the month. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for each class and these children will be awarded with official Robert Burns Federation certificates.
Children should learn their poem off by heart and add suitable expression and actions. Some of the poems are performed by people online on sites such as YouTube and this may assist your child in learning their poem.
The poems are as follows:
P1a/P1b – My Wee Rid Motor, P2/P2/3 – Nessie, P3 – The Sair Finger, P4 – Fireworks aff the Castle, P4/5/P5 – A Chuckie in yer Shoe, P6/P6/7 – Farewell to aw our Scottish Fame, P7 – Lament to the Toothache.

P2 Winter Wonderland
The boys and girls worked very hard to create these amazing wintry landscapes. They used the medium of oil pastel to make the scene look realistic.

P2 Marvellous Maths
Primary 2 have been busy during maths time this week.
Some children used an interactive SmartBoard Sweet Shop game to add coins to make a total.
Others used play coins and a price list in the class shop. Some children practised their mental addition skills by completing a “Five minute Frenzy” grid while others played maths apps on the i-pads. You have been very focused on your learning, well done P2!
Carol Singing at the Co-Op and Auchengeich Gardens
Some members of the choir sang Christmas carols for the residents of Auchengeich Gardens Sheltered Housing and in the Co-Op today. They sang very well and everyone who heard them really enjoyed it.
Glenmanor Choir Christmas Carol Service
Well done to the Junior and Senior Glenmanor Choirs for their fabulous singing and Christmas readings at last night’s Christmas Carol Service.
We would like to thank all the parents and family members who came along to support the event, Reverend Mark McKeown for speaking at the service and Sheila Montgomery for her lovely accompaniment on the piano.
The children would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Choir Christmas Carol Service 10.12.15
I am pleased to remind you that the Glenmanor Christmas Carol Service will take place in the school hall from 6.30pm until 7.30pm on Thursday the 10th December. Could both infant and senior choir members meet in the Learning Kitchen (GP Room) no later than 6.00pm.
Children should wear their school uniform and can wear a Christmas hat, head decoration or tinsel etc.
Parents will be led by class to the Learning Kitchen to pick up their children after the service.
Tickets for the event are still available to buy from the school office.
