Karate

We have been very lucky over the past 8 weeks to have had Vince from Kami-Do Karate in Coatbridge teaching us new skills.

Here is some footage of Room 7 and Room 11 competing in the final Kata competition:

Karate 2019

Cara was so proud of herself and worked so hard to get the 1st place trophy. Well done Cara! Ciar was delighted when he won the trophy for being the most improved in the class.

Vince has been so patient and encouraging throughout the Karate block and we can’t wait to see him again next year. Thank you from all of the boys and girls in the Junior Department at Firpark PS!

Windmill Cafe and Gardening Club

Congratulations to our graduates of the Windmill Cafe and Gardening Club!

Billy and Liam both received their CV’s and certificates from the Windmill Cafe detailing the programme of work they have completed over the past few months.

Nathan and Jack are pictured with their completed birdhouses that they made in the gardening club.

Thank you to Mrs Reilly and Mrs Brady for accompanying our boys to the clubs and supporting them through this wonderful experience!

Swimming Gala 2019

The pupils who represented the school were complimented on their outstanding efforts and behaviour throughout the day.

Liam from Room 12 attended and won 3 first place ribbons.

Zak from Room 10 attended and won 2 second place ribbons.

Aiden from Room 9 attended and won a first place ribbon.

Myles, Lee and Lewis from Room 8 attended and won a second, two seconds and a third place ribbon.

Finally, Alex from Room 7 attended and won a second place ribbon.

So its fair to say that Firpark PS had a very successful trip!

Special thanks goes to I. McMeekin from Firpark HS for organising and inviting us and to all of the officials from Blantyre Sports Centre,  UWS and Firpark Secondary for helping us on the day. Thank you to Barry and Margaret for helping us on the day too.

Well done boys!

Congratulations!

A huge well done to our Cross Country Running Team who completed the West of Scotland Cross Country series after three tough races!

The boys and girls tried so hard at all three events and overcame some adverse weather conditions to represent their school.

Adam Mahjoub from Room 11 came 2nd place overall in the boy’s primary race and David Chisolm from Room 12 followed shortly after in 3rd place so they earned a silver and bronze medal for their efforts! WELL DONE!

Thank you to Miss Brolly, Mrs Brady and Miss Wallace who supported our team throughout the series.

Here is a selection of photos from the event:

Firpark Primary enjoyed a whole school celebration in the dining hall where the kids sampled some traditional Scottish food and drinks.

We were so lucky to be joined by a Ceilidh band from The Royal Conservatoire where Room 12 and the Juniors showed the Infants some traditional Scottish dancing. We all had a great time and couldn’t resist joining in!

Thank you so much to the amazing band and we hope to see you again soon!

Sponsored Bounce 2019

All of the boys and girls had a great day at our Sponsored Bounce!

We enjoyed different activities like basketball, the trampoline and our favourite – the bouncy castle.

Thanks to all of the Firpark families who continually support and sponsor the kids for these events.

New Mini Bus!

We were delighted to be presented with a brand new mini bus by representatives from the Variety Club, sponsors DPD Parcel Delivery and special guest Stephen Craigan last week.

The children and our VIP guests enjoyed a special presentation to celebrate it’s arrival and we are all super excited to explore our community in our brand new bus!
