Ready for our October Holiday!

P1/2 have been very busy recently, they wanted to share some of their learning over the past few weeks. They all deserve a little rest over the holidays since they have been working their socks off!

Summer – We planted our peas and we have taken them home to look after.

Ruth – The primary 2’s have been learning to count in tens and units.

Andrew – We played football manager and flower shop manager to help us with our tens and units.

Rory McInness – We have been learning to write the number 8.

Lewis – We done stations with Lego and hedgehogs, autumn leaves matching games.

Maxwel – We were playing a game about tens and units and it was a shark game.

William – We have been sorting our numbers with the ipads.

Emily – We were learning about Norma Noun. She helps us to find nouns in our sentences.

Rory M – Nouns can be people, things and places.

Lillian – We went over to the library because there was magic show going on.

Ellie – Meg (Mrs Mclaren’s daughter) read us two stories called ‘Life is Magic’ and ‘Pigeon Pi’.

James Thomas – I bought pigeon Pi.

Evie – We went to the hall to do gymnastics with P3 and turned into different animals. My favourite animal was the Giraffe.

Maths Week

We have been busy participating in pattern for maths week. We have had great fun linking pattern across the curriculum and not just in maths. We have been writing some rhyming stories for taught writing, matching words that rhyme, making colour and shape patterns, movement patterns, and sound patterns.

The P2’s challenged their brains to make trickier patterns with different resources and looking at harder rhymes. We were counting in 10’s and 5’s number patterns. They played a game to find real and made up rhyming words and had great fun trying to work these out. Have a look at some of our work from maths week…

Emily – We were counting in tens.

Lillian – The ice cream cones we fun and I used a number line to help me.

Ruth – We went to stations and we used transport and animals to make our own patterns.

Lewis – We made patterns and we painted and we did loom bands.

Maxwell – We used peg board to make our patterns.

Evie – We made made our patterns harder by using 3 or 4 colours to challenge us.

Rory Moore – We were doing flags and rying to do patterns like blue yellow blue and we could also use some loom bands and painting to do some patterns.

William – We were sliding then running, sliding then running.

Rory – We went down to work with the other p1 class

Lyle – We made shape patterns

Andrew – We wrote a rhyming story

 

Our First Few Weeks in P1/2

Apologies for the delay in getting our post online. We had some trouble trying to upload but Mrs McIntyre has kindly helped us. We have been very busy since starting P1/2. P1 have been down working with P1a to be super sorters and P2 have been enjoying gym with the P2 class on a Thursday! Here are some pictures of us over the last few weeks…

We have also had a special visitor that came to our classroom one day. She left something behind, can you spot it in our pictures?

Lewis – Our topic topic is little red riding hood. She came into the school and she left her red coat for us!

Ellie – We made masks of our favourite characters from the story of Little red riding hood and we will pretend we are the characters in the role play area.

Rory M – We have got a night cap which is grandma’s in the Little Red Riding Hood house.

Evie – We made a house for Little red riding hood’s Grandma.

Summer – We made get well soon cards for Grandma.

Emily – We used our cutting skills to make Little Red Riding Hood’s baskets.

Rory Mc– I have been learning to write my name in the sand, the smartboard and our letters.

Archie – We have learned how to write the numbers up to 3.

Lyle – We have learned the letter ‘a’.

Josh – We have been looking at pictures of our learning.

Andrew – The P2’s have been writing their second name.

Ruth – We have new common words they are; by, only, come and are.
