Happy New Year

We hope you all had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year .Sorry we have been so busy that we could not blog sooner .

In maths we have been doing fractions we have learned how to do improper fractions and mixed numbers.also we have learned how to shade in shapes and see how many boxes are shaded and then write it in fractions.

In literacy we just moved on from non fiction, where we did a block of persuasive writing and now onto poetry to celebrate Robert burns on the 25th of January.  We have been looking at the features of poetry and could identify similes, metaphors and alliteration.

In PE we started a block of gymnastics. We really enjoy our balances with partners and with large groups of people.

Our new topic is Scotland! We have so much to look into and are really enjoying the topic already. We have looked at the different islands in Scotland and places to visit. Did you know the Scottish tradition animal is the unicorn?

We are looking forward to learning lots more over the next few weeks.

Christmas in P5/6

In P 5/6 we have made 3d snowflakes in our Christmas groups,so we put them on the window so everyone can see them. We have also made stamps some of them are outside on the walls so when someone comes they can see them. We also made  a winter view it has a window with a wintry view in the background.

We rewrote twas the night and then we  put in our jotter n once we finished that we put it on a sheet of paper then made the background colour  with Christmas colours. we have also watched the Santa Clause 2 trailer in Literacy, we were looking at the elements off the trailer.

We also had our p6 and p5 party on Monday and Wednesday it was so much fun we did the gay gordans ,dashing white sargent, virginna reel and the military two step,we also played some party games like pass the parcel, corners and we danced to Proud Mary and more.

Walking water

This week we have completed a water experiment for our topic.

  • We poured water into two cups and left the middle empty .
  • We also added food colouring into the water and folded kitchen roll . We then left this over night.
  • After we left it over night the kitchen roll absorbed the water and mixed together into the middle cup

Look at our creations!

#GoldGoals Chryston Primary

This week the whole school have taken part in raising money for the school by taking part in a sponsored Fitness. We completed a circuit made by Johnathon Paterson who is Paralympic footballer.

Robyn- I loved doing the circuit in the morning because I was then ready for the day ahead.

Calum- I learned how to take part in spotty dogs correctly. You start with one leg straight and the opposite hand. You keep switching your arms and legs to keep fit and healthy.

Ewan- I found all the trophies and medals that Johnathan had won very interesting.

Jenna- I really liked taking part in the star jumps because they are easier to do. I found the assembly interesting when he spoke to the whole school.

Alfie- I really like when he took part with us in the circuit. He inspired everyone by saying nothing can stop you achieving what you want to be.

The Health committee are working towards getting a Gold Medal for the Scotland schools sports award. We will be working on getting evidence as we have a Bronze award so far.
