Our Awesome Start To 2015!

We have had an extremely  busy start to 2015!

It has been lovely having Miss Graham working with us for the past two weeks. Miss Graham has been telling us about traits, inheritance and habitats.

P6 have just completed a block on Length. We were measuring different items using measuring tapes, rulers, metre sticks and trundle wheels. The piece of measuring equipment depends on the item you are measuring. For example, you would never measure the length of the school hall with a ruler! Instead you would use a trundle wheel.

In P.E. we have been continuing with dance. We have been working in small groups to come up with our own dance sequences.

Today we managed to go outside and play in the snow. It was extremely cold but great fun!

Have a look at our photos below.

A Special Visitor

This morning P6 and P7 went over to P6/7 at Chryston High. We were there to meet a famous author called Michael Kerins.

We heard one of his stories called Wee Tom. There were two characters in the story called Wee Tom and Uncle Dan.

Michael has been telling stories for over 50 years. His dad, who told him stories ever since he was a baby, inspired him. We thoroughly enjoyed his visit.

Sportshall Athletics

We had a brilliant time at the Athletics event on Wednesday 26th November at The Tryst. All of our 24 athletes gave 110% effort and we were delighted to be placed second in our group. This means we do not automatically get into the North Lanarkshire finals but there is still a chance we could be picked to go  as the fastest runners up. The children supported each other, celebrated all the results and personal achievements and were a real credit to the school. Thanks to Mrs Young for her excellent support too.

German

Guten tag! Every Thursday afternoon we work with Mrs Allan for German. Most of us didn’t know any words in German but knew a little bit about the country.

In the first week we found out how to greet one another. Then we went on to saying our name. This meant we could have conversations in german with our peers.

We have just started learning the alphabet in german. We are finding this tricky but we know with practise we will get better.
