This weeks blogger is Abigail!
It’s been a busy week in primary 6! In maths we have been doing some work on multiplication using our 6,7,8 and 9 times tables. We got sent on a secret mission, each group had a different mission. My mission was to organise a school disco, lots of times I had to use my multiplication skills to work out the answer.
In language we learned about comparative and superlative adjectives. We learned that comparative adjectives compare 2 things like saying that one clown is funnier than the other. The comparative adjective in that sentence was funnier. A superlative adjective is comparing 3 or more things. I have lots of scarves but my green one is the longest of them all. The superlative adjective was longest. We played lots of games to help us learn about comparative and superlative adjectives. Here are some photos of us having fun with our learning. We also wrote similes poems this week so look at the earlier blog to hear some of them!
In our interdisciplinary we have been learning all about Scotland. We began our week by starting some leaflets on Scottish tourist attractions. we researched some Scottish tourist attractions and looked at important details that tourists would want to know. I made my leaflet of the Falkirk wheel because I’ve been and I think is really interesting. In my leaflet I included 5 facts, the opening times and information on the boat trips.
Also in our Scottish theme we have been doing some cooking. On Thursday we went up to the kitchen and made oat cakes. we were learning to follow the hygiene routine to make ourselves and our cooking area hygienic. We have to be careful though because 2 people in our class are allergic to dairy so in some recipes we have to take alternatives. We used an oat cake recipe that had no dairy in it so the oat cakes were ok for every one.
Scottish afternoon is coming up and primary 6 are working hard on our songs and poems but we’ll keep them secret for now. We were also doing some drama this week we all split into groups of 3 and acted out “The Sair Finger ” by Walter Wingate. We used tone and expression in our voices and actions to make our scenes fun to listen to and watch. Look at our pictures below.
Your cooking looks like great fun. Are there any oatcakes left??
I remember learning “The Sair Finger” when I was at Primary school. That was a long time ago but I still remember the words!
